This lovely historic theatre still breaths life within the local community. It has been lovingly restored and services many community theathre. Highway 101 is considered a virtual living road museum. Many of the buildings along it still hold their original architecture and charm. Lots of wonderful business to checkout such as cafe's, restaurants, surf shops, book stores, theatre and gifts shops!

Look at my picture: it's the main through south-north highway of Oceanside (Carlsbad - Oceanside - San Clemente) called South Coastal Highway south of Mission Ave. and North Coastal Avenue north of Mission Ave.

It's marked S-21 on traffic signs. S21 is a part of Pacific Coastal Highway 101 (or 1) which goes along the Pacific Coast from Mexico to... Canada :-)).

There are a lot of flowers seen in Oceanside and not only in peoples' yards but just by a highway as well. It seems that they don't water them so they grow till there is enough water in the ground.
Never mind, I discovered Oceanside full of flowers and green colour in April when I visited the area.

This is the Henry Graves house on 102 North Pacific Streetm which is right across from the beautiful ocean. It is called the "Top Gun" house, because this is where they filmed actress Kelley McGillis' playing, Charlotte 'Charlie' Blackwood, who supposely lived here in the 1986 movie "Top Gun!"

I heard an interested story by someone who works at the Wyndham at the time, says Wyndham owns the property it sits on and did not want to tear it down and is waiting for someone to move it off their property.

Built in 1927 is an excellent example of Mission Revival architecture. It replaced a 1893 church that was once here that was moved from here to 1510 Lemon Street. We came upon it while exploring the downtown area. My Nate liked the little hidden garden it had and wanted to take some pictures, so I let him. It was a wonderful experience for us both.

Do you recognize this house from the movie, "Top Gun?" You might be too young. It was filmed in 1986 and was quite popular in those days. The people of Oceanside loved this movie and decided to perserve the house. It's one of the oldest bungalow type houses in Southern California. It was built about 1887 more than 125 years ago and has gone through a restoration.

In the movie, "Top Gun" this was the house that Kelly McGillis stayed in while filming and it served as her character's home as well, in the movie.

This was one of several spots that take place in the movie that I took my Finnish students to see because they love the movie too.
