Good Luck Finding A Open Space!

Driving is the easiest way to get to Old Town San Diego State Historical Park, but once you get there you may have to circle the various parking lots numerous times before finding an open space. Especially during holidays and the summer this popular visitors site is very crowded. There are several parking lots surrounding the Park on the east and west sides and they are free of charge. Street parking may have meters, which means, you'll have to return every two hours or so and feed them with more coins.

Old Town SD State Historical Park and More!!

The Old Town Trolley Tours bus makes a stop in Old Town San Diego State Historical Park. It is an expensive form of transportation, but not so expensive as taking a taxi. The convenience of being guided to the most interesting spots in and around San Diego might be worth the cost to some people.

Old Town San Diego State Historical Park is one of the regular stops this tour bus makes. Get off the bus in Old Town San Diego State Historical Park and spend the as much time as you'd like before reboarding for more sites of San Diego. Make sure to return to the pick-up point before the last run.

This is not the San Diego Trolley, some people get the two mixed up. This is a "tour" bus and the SD Trolley is a train that is part of the mass transit system in San Diego County. There is an Old Town San Diego Trolley station a few blocks away.

    Old Town Horse Soldiers

He will stop to let the kids pet his horse!

Keeping in with the Old Time flavor of the area you can see soldiers on horseback, especially fun for the little kids.

Walking is the only way to roam through this life sized museum. The streets are closed to any type of vehicle--except wheelchairs. However, the streets are short and the walk is broken up by many buildings to explore. The walk is easy, even for me and my cane.

You like my car? I wish, but mine is not far.

One thing when visiting Old Town San Diego, be sure to take your time and be patient. There is parking along Juan Street and Congress Street. Also, Caltrans has a parking lot on Taylor, but only weekends. There is more parking near the Transit Center on Pacific Highway too.
