LA/Ontario International Airport

In 1923, called Latimer Field after a orange packing company, this was a simple dirt patch of a runway located near San Antonio Avenue and the Union Pacific railroad track where "Jennies" would land. It was decided to move to the southwest corner and it was then called Ontario Airport. Because the strip followed the railroad track the pilots would gauge the winds by the smoke coming from the trains. When we were consumed with the war effort during the 1940's during WWII, the airport runway grew to 6,200' east/west runway and the 4,700' northeast/southwest runway. The Lockheed P-38s were flown here by pilot trainees in the US Army Air Corps. By the 1950's many major aviation companies settled here as well as the National Guard. It is these very runways still served us today.

There are Three Terminals 2,4 and a separate International Terminal. Airlines: Alaska/Horizon, American, Continental, Delta, Great Lakes, Southwest, United/United Express and US Airways.

This is a easy airport to find and an easy airport to park Lot 2 (1,601), Lot 4 (1,790), Lot 5 (2,200).

It is a good way to avoid traffic problems. For 12Dollar you can get a round trip ticket to Downtown L.A. and back. From the Rancho Cucamonga station(close to Ontario) it takes 1hour to downtown L.A.It will take also 1 hour by car;sometimes longer. It is very good descripted how you get your ticket from the machines.Metrolink station,Rancho Cucamonga.

Try LA via Ontario-it's so worth it!

Ontario, California is on the map for one major reason- the airport. Flying into southern California is most convenient and easy coming into Ontario. No need to worry about the traffic headache that is LAX. No concern is needed about limited arrival times, unlike with John Wayne airport in Orange county. You likely will not get delayed at ONT, which is why business travellers especially love to arrive here. The airport is full service and does have some international departures/arrivals. What's best here perhaps is that the flights tend to be cheaper to land here. A drawback about teh airport is that it is far from the heart of Los Angeles-however there is much consideration taken into providing shuttles, extensive car rentals and other transportation to make connection with major parts of LA , as well as Orange county.

This hotel has a shuttle that makes regular trips to the nearby Mall. The mall is a decent size and has a good restaurant in it, too. See the front desk for schedule It's usually on a tripod near the front door.
