Slow down and take the Train
One way to beat the heavy traffic of Southern California is to take the train more specifically, the Amtrak train. You can take it for short distances such as a day trip to Santa Barbara (Pacific Surfliner route) or for overnight trips to San Juan Capistrano, La Jolla, Del Mar or San Diego,
Or take a 2 day ride up the coast (The Coast Starlight route) to destinations such as the Oregon Coast all the way to Seattle, Washington. Book a roomette (small private accommodations for 2 people, all your meals are included in the ticket price.) If you are disabled, thy will bring your meals directly to you so you don't have to go through the train to the dining car. Plus Amtrak offers a 15% discount for the disabled (take note, they WILL ask for proof of disability, so make sure you have your paperwork with you and in order.)
We will be taking the Amtrak this Winter to Santa Fe New Mexico, I can't wait.

The Oxnard-Ventura Airport
My favorite way to get to Oxnard when traveling is by airplane. Now some of you will want to make the drive and I will address that in another page but for now let's talk about United Skywest shuttle.
At LAX in the United terminal is gate 71 E through L this is the remote terminal for flights to places such as Santa Maria, Fresno, Ontario and ...Oxnard.
Coming to Oxnard book United Skywest Oxnard Airport (OXR), there are around 6 -7 flights per day with the last leaving LAX around 10:30pm (2230)
Security is quite thorough because they can take the time with each passenger.
The flight takes about 12 minutes from LAX. Once you land there are a couple of car rental (car hire) facilities, taxis and hotel shuttles to greet you.
I really enjoy traveling out of the Oxnard air port as it helps to bypass the hustle and bustle of the larger airports
