The Pelican Tavern was sold and renamed Woody’s Bayview Grill in early 2009.
The Pelican Tavern is located in Pacific Grove, right on the edge of Monterey in the American Tin Cannery building. It is locally owned, with a growing local following. They bill themselves as a sports bar, with NFL Sunday Ticket and other sports programming, as well as 0930 opening times for the early Saturday and Sunday games. They also bring in local bands for entertainment that can be fun. Finally, they feature a variety of food and drink. Draft beers range from $3.50 for domestics to $5 for a few imports, and their beer list includes local favorites such as Fat Lip and Dragon Slayer as well as a few Irish beers like Smithwicks and Guinness. On weekends breakfast is served beginning at 0930, and they offer numerous options for lunch and dinner.
When I lived in Monterey, we could walk here in about 10 minutes from my apartment in New Monterey. This was one of our favorite places to listen to Band of Ninjas, other than the Mucky Duck on Alvarado.
Happy Hour is Monday through Saturday 4 to 7 pm and includes a variety of drink specials.
