Barbara's Fish Trap: Fantastic Fresh Fish!

    Barbara's Fish Trap

First off Barbara's Fish Trap is not in Pacifica. It is eleven miles south in the tiny town of Princeton, just north of Half Moon Bay. Forty years ago my dad would take my family over to Princeton to have fresh fish at a place a few feet from where the new Barbara's now stands. Sadly that place is gone but Barbara's delivers an absolutely excellent fish experience at a reasonable cost.

My sister, who lives close by, frequents Barbara's at least once a month. If the lines are any indication of its regional popularity then this place is a landmark. Even on a mid Tuesday afternoon there was a line stretching out of the restaurant and onto the street.

So many good items to choose from. The New England Clam Chowder is excellent. The crab louie contains fresh crab caught in the area. A big plate of crab is to die for. The Chilean Sea Bass while flown tastes as if it was just caught. There is also a wide variety of other fish but many other local choices including on occasion fresh shark. For those budget conscious there are a host of senior specials.

Service here is usually excellent and if you are lucky you can get a view of the harbor.

Favorite Dish: Crab louie made from fresh local crab. In additon, great New England Clam Chowder

Taco Bell: The Most Well Situated Taco Bell in the World?

    Taco Bell Pacifica
    1 more image

Okay lets be honest. Unless you have small kids or are on a tight budget a Taco Bell is not a place you want to eat or brag about on a trip. However the Taco Bell, owned by Yum Foods, in Pacifica is the only restaurant on Linda Mar or Pacifica State Beach and has an absolutely stunning location.

The restaurant sits next to the parking lot for Linda Mar Beach. It is the only restaurant directly on the beach. It has been built out of wood with a modernistic design. The inside of the restaurant has large windows with great views of the beach and the surfers riding the waves. There is a very large patio with outdoor seating with even more spectacular views of the ocean. At 1 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon the place was absolutely packed with folks waiting for service.

As a former Planning Director I had to stop by and get a few pics of the restaurant as well as the beach. I can only imagine how much Taco Bell had to pay for the land to build this.

Favorite Dish: I wouldn't eat the food but I would get a drink and watch the surfers. This crazy place actually has a happy hour daily from 2pm to 5 pm where they feature beverages and certain food items.

Mazzetti's Bakery: Fresh coffee and pastries

by dovalyn Written Nov 4, 2007

Wonderful coffees, pastries of all types, specialty cakes to order, themed cookies and pies. This is a nice sit down place for coffee and read the local newspaper or watch the world go by, namely the Pacifica traffic. The customer service is excellent here and it can be a long wait depending on the time of day, usually early morning from 6:00am-9:00am and then from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

Favorite Dish: My favorite dish has to be the sweet potato pie when it is season. Homemade at the bakery it sometimes sells out by midday. Everything is homemade at the bakery even their cookies which are fun and fantastically tasty!

  • Nona's Kitchen: Gourmet food, casual atmosphere, good prices.

by starlord Written Feb 8, 2005

Some of the most delicious pasta and seafood dishes in the Bay Area, if not the enitre state, are found here at quaint Nona's Kitchen. Tucked away in the Pedro Point area (just past Linda Mar Beach), Nona's master chef (red clogs and all) serves up fine cuisine, freindly casual atmosphere, and the most exquisite baked goods (some of which are sold next door at Nona's bakery). Reservations not required. Atmosphere is cozy, quaint, bistro-style but not at all cheeky or pretentious. Their award-winning desserts (especially apple pie and sundaes) are so good I am drooling just thinking about them!

Favorite Dish: My favorite is the Homemade Artichoke Raviolis in a Lemon Caper Sauce. Be sure to get some of their famous biscuits, I am not kidding, they are to die for. For luncheon faire, they have a great kids menu, serve excellent burgers, yummy garlic fries and unique daily specials. What makes their pasta dishes so good are the sauces, often having traces of lemon or other savory mxings of true culinary delight. The salads are also good, I recommend the greek. All around, In a town full of fast food and cheap diners, Nona's stands out as a rare treat, don't miss it !

    Manor Shopping Center

Nice surroundings of British antiquities and even a daily British newspaper! Great beers and ales. Homemade batter of fresh high quality fish deep fried with chips (fries) served piping hot to your table. Close to the beach.

Favorite Dish: I like the fish and chips plate. It serves up two nice sized filet of fish with chips. Vinegar, salt and catsup are right on the table and tartar sauce for the asking.

    Nick's: Nick's is a Pacifica home

    by 7ContinentsOrBust Written Oct 24, 2004

Nick's is a little slice of what is truly Pacifica. Stop in on your drive down Hwy 1. Our Rotary Club has functions here a couple times a year.

    Favorite Dish: The view.
