Sullivan's Steakhouse: Steaks Seafood and Martinis (shaken not stirred)

by Basaic Updated Feb 20, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Sullivan's Steakhouse

Sullivan's is a nice place, full of energy, to get a steak dish or some seafood. They also serve martinis (shaken not stirred like James Bond likes). Decor is fairly fancy and the service is good. A bit pricey. Too fancy and formal looking for me.

    Favorite Dish: Sauteed Sea Scallops.

    Pacifica: Great Seafood

by Basaic Written Feb 19, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Pacifica Seafood Restaurant

Pacifica is my choice for seafood in Pam Desert. It has a nice balcony to sit on and watch the people on El Paseo and has a bit less formal an atmosphere than Sullivan's. Food and service is very good. They also have 142 Vodkas from 22 countries at their "Vodka Bar".

Favorite Dish: Lake Superior Whitefish prepared with sauteed spinach, mixed mushrooms, toasted pine nuts, and beurre blanc.

Omri and Boni: First Class Dinner

    by nyc10025 Updated Apr 4, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Set in a contemporary building Omri and Boni provides a comfortable setting, excellent service and great food. O & B offers creatively sauced food particularly very fresh fish and grilled meats (which you can see being prepared in their open kitchen. It was the best restaurant that we ate at in the Palm Desert area. It's worth the price. Make reservations.

Favorite Dish: Peking Duck--Different than and even better than in a Chinese restaurant.

    Locanda Toscana: Incredible Veal...

by Agraichen Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Somewhat "off" the mainstream in a supermarket mall that had McDonald's as the "entre" restaurant, Locanda Toscana was recommended by the Concierge of the J.W. Marriott in Palm Desert as a "must see."

I was not disappointed, and I asked to be "fit in" as a diner on New Year's Eve.

GREAT people; from the seating, the wait staff, the wine steward, all were attentive and made you feel like your HAD to return.

Favorite Dish: I had the veal and it was wonderful...never even used a knife.

LG's Prime Steakhouse: Beef that melts in your mount

by Agraichen Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A local favorite that I'd eaten at before in Palm Springs but didn't recall the name. The second restaurant in Palm Desert didn't disappoint either. Casual elegance is the operative word with very efficient and doting wait staff.

LG's was the ONLY CA steakhouse to be rated in Tom Horan's America's Top Ten Steakhouses for 2004.

They have a signature "Classic Caesar Salad" that is made from scratch at your table. It was incredible.

There is a third in La Quinta which we'll have to try next trip.

Favorite Dish: Hard to decide. The steak was done very well. They have a chart of how they interpret the varying degrees of "doneness" of beef just so you know what you are getting.

The calamari appitizer was perfect; crisp coating, not greasy with tender meat.

We also had crab cakes as an appitizer which were extremely tender and tasty.

Lakeview: A pretty good hotel buffet

    by Robachu1 Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

No pic of the restaurant but this is the lake....

It was 9pm on a Saturday night and we had just finished a full day of sightseeing in the hot desert. Needless to say we were very hungry and not in the mood for dressing up and going out. Lakeview at the JW Marriott Palm Desert was just the thing. The had a very good buffet with all that anyone could want.

Favorite Dish: The prime rib was fantastic and who can say no to all the boiled shrimp you can eat!?

Colibri Grille: The flavors of Mexico

    by Robachu1 Updated Apr 4, 2011

    Raspberry Margarita

This restaurant was like an old Mexican hacienda...a little dark with lots of wood and a large fireplace. There was a wonderful view of the mountains and the hotel grounds.
The food was quite good. Kaoru enjoyed her Camarones A Mojos de Ajo (scampi style jumbo shrimp sauteed in tequila and served with pasta) while I had the Enchiladas Rojas o Verdes.

Favorite Dish: The restaurant had a selection of margaritas as long as I'd ever seen. We didn't try them all but the ones we did were great!

    This from there own info:
Sip a margarita in the lively bar, relax on the tiled fountain patio or enjoy the music of top entertainers. At Las Casuelas Nuevas — the desert’s most popular destination for Mexican cuisine for nearly 30 years — anything is possible.

A commitment to dining excellence inspired this unique fusion of timeless tastes with modern style at Las Casuelas Nuevas and Casuelas Café. Florencio and Mary Delgado realized their vision and established the first Spanish Colonial hacienda restaurant in the country with the opening of Las Casuelas Nuevas in Rancho Mirage in 1973. Owned and operated by the third generation of restaurateurs, Joaquín and Sharon Delgado, Las Casuelas Nuevas tempts with the original Delgado family recipes, unique specialty dishes and exciting new lighter and vegetarian selections. Guillermo's: The Absolute Best Mexican Cuisine I have EVER Enjo

    by LCKT13 Written May 21, 2009

Two real estate agents in the Desert recommended this place to us. We made a reservation and were promptly seated on time. When the chips and salsa arrived we knew we had struck pay dirt. They were freshly made and the salsa was smokey and slightly tangy. We both commented these were the best we have ever enjoyed.

Then came my entree which consisted of tequila marinated prawn wrapped in bacon and sauteed accompanied by a wonderful sauce. I screamed and shouted from the rooftops (internally!!!) and asked to speak with the chef upon completing my meal. I thanked him and told him that after 50+ years of enjoying Mexican cuisine I had never had a more enjoyable one than this one tonite.

Favorite Dish: Prawns marinated in tequila wrapped in bacon then sauteed. THE BEST DISH!

Casuelas Café: Great food, service, & decor

We had a hard time finding a breakfast place that was opened before 10:00am….hmm! So I spotted this place as we sort of drove around in frustration because the boys were so hungry. So we parked and sat down in the patio area and the waitress was giving us all wonderful glasses of water. I received my coffee, so that made this momma happy. She was wonderful and cheerful, just fantastic. The food was good and would never complain about the price. It is just a block from the trendy El Paseo. Great location and great food.

Pacifica Restaurant and Vodka Bar: Seafood with View of El Paseo

    Pacifica in Palm Desert
    4 more images

Pacifica is typical of near great California cuisine. They have restaurants in San Diego and Palm Desert, and so the menu errs on the corporate side, and it's overly ingenious culinary art. I had a white fish ceviche and fish tacos. My dad had a crab salad. We shared a bottle of Schramsberg Champagne to toast to the great winter weather. The second floor patio had a clear view over El Paseo and of the San Jacinto mountains beyond. The restaurant features a huge selection of vodkas, which of course allows for any type of Martini one could imagine, but the wine list is also impressive enough. Reservations can be made on-line, but I didn't see the need for any.

Favorite Dish: I've only been here once, and it was for lunch, but I'd happily return for dinner.

    Bogies: Breakfast/Lunch in Country Club

    by nyc10025 Written Apr 3, 2005

Bogies is the casual upscale "coffee shop" at the Palm Valley Country Club. Bogies is downstairs at the club house. Breakfast and lunch with a view of the golf course. You don't need membership if you tell them you are eating at the restaurant at the entry gate to the complex.

    Restaurant Guillermo: Good Family Restaurant

Good Mexican food (real Mexican with dishes you may not have seen before) in a comfortable setting. Most of the staff seem to be from the owner's (who is the chef) family. The service is great and the prices are very reasonable.

LG's Prime Steakhouse: LG's Prime Steakhouse

by Wilson Updated Aug 24, 2002

    0.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

That's right, over 30 ounces of the finest steak around. LG's is consistently rated in the top 10 Prime Steakhouses in the country and it doesn't disappoint. The food is of the highest quality and the atmosphere is casual enough that you don't feel like you are in a stuffy restaurant.

Favorite Dish: The special 39 ounce steak with the cesaer sald. (They make the salad at the table and it is the best I have ever had. LG claims to eat one of these special cuts every night, and can be found wandering around his restaurant nightly so just ask and he spin a story or two.)
