    The Gardens

by Basaic Written Feb 19, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In the El Paseo Shopping District is a nicely landscaped area called "The Gardens". Palm Desert, and various organizations, sponsor open air concerts and other fund-raising events here. When I visited they were having a concert with some food booths collecting money for a children's medical charity.

    Palm Desert Civic Center Park

by Basaic Written Feb 19, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Palm Desert Civic Center Park is a nice art park with a lagoon, beautiful landscaping, and a number of very nice statues. "Dancer" is by the Civic Center; my favorite is the fisherman (photo 3) but I also like the "dreamer". The park is connected to the civic center and is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. For a full list of Palm Desert's Art in Public Places call (760) 346-0611 or check the Palm Desert website.

    Watch For Neat Old Trucks

by Basaic Written Feb 19, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This old truck is probably effective as an advertisement because it sure is eye-catching. Interesting that the antique truck is advertising elder care. This truck was spotted in the El Paseo Shopping District.

The Bob Hope Cultural Center & McCallum Theatre presents a wide variety of concerts, Broadway shows and other entertainment. One of the shows coming up (unfortunately after I was leaving) was "Rock of Ages".

    Palm Desert Library

by Basaic Written Feb 19, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I am not always a fan of modern architecture; too often it has little ascetic value. This attractive building is the local library and is run jointly by the city of Palm Desert and the College of the Desert. This is a nice place to relax out of the summer heat, check your e-mail, and catch up with the latest on VT.

A good place to start your tour of Palm Desert is the Visitors Center in the El Paseo part of town. The center has friendly personnel that can help you select brochures, maps and other types of information to help you plan your visit to maximize your enjoyment based on your interests and the time you have to visit. Hours are 9 AM to 5 PM daily.

    Pemtemwhaha

by Yaqui Updated Apr 4, 2011

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Cahuilla Gardian of Hoofed Animal
There once was a deity named Pemtemwhaha. He was powerful and respected deity who protected bighorn sheep, antelope, and deer. In the past, traditional Bird Singers would perform songs and Cahuilla shamans performed ceremonies to respect this deity.

This is a public art program to increase the awareness of the plight of the endangered peninsular Bighorn Sheep of the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains.

If you have not already notices, these wonderful pieces of art are located in many locations of Palms Springs and outside of Palm Springs. Look around, one might be staring you down. They are beautiful pieces of art. www.sccmuseum.org

This whole boulevard is art and that is not all of it. You will find it all over Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, and Palms Springs. It is amazing and I had wished I had much more time to seek it all out. I wish more communities would indulge in this public display of artistry.
