    Mountains close to Palm Springs

Fondest memory: The landscape around Palm Springs. It´s a desert area surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Looks awesome. While the dusty sand is blowing across the highway, the elevation of the snow on the mountains is high enough to let it resist against the sun.

    Hoover Dam at Lake Mead

    My sister posing.

Favorite thing: Make a trip to Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake in the world in terms or volume thanks to the engineering wonder Hoover Dam.

Avoid carrying suspicious looking bags in case you incur unnecessary delay to your fellow travellers when the security checks on you. We can't afford a burst dam after 9/11 can we?

Favorite thing: Bien sur, one must hike to the top!

Fondest memory: The fondest memory is hiking to the top (pretty steep). But the coolest thing was coming home and developing our pictures. We looked through them and noticed that we had snapped a picture just at the right time during sunrise and got a shadow of the PEAK down on the ground. Look at the quasi-pyramid shaped shadow. That's the peak. Isn't that cool?

Favorite thing: Take a hike in the canyons....you will round a corner and in the middle of nothing will be palm trees and in the winter typically a river stream...soothing and beautiful.

Fondest memory: Actually the best part of Palm Springs is the mountain ranges. They are awesome at sun up and breathtaking at sundown. All day long the view changes. Sometimes you see the numerous ranges and at other times it looks like it is just one huge mountain. Spend time sitting at a quiet spot to contemplate life while enjoying the view.
