    Modernism - Oasis Hotel Tower

by trvlrtom Written Jul 3, 2009
    Oasis Hotel Tower

Designed by Lloyd Wright (Frank's son) and built back in 1923, the Oasis Hotel Tower was once on of the most modern buildings in California. The advanced concrete construction, wood filigree screens and ornamental pots on the roof made it a unique landmark in the desert. Unfortunately the hotel is mostly gone, but the tower can be seen through a walkway on Palm Canyon in the heart of downtown. You'll have to look past the worn edges of the building to imagine the exotic romance the building once had. But since its right downtown, there's no extra effort to see it.
