Rose Bowl by Dabs My husband and I love visiting flea markets, not the ones selling new goods but the ones selling knick knacks and antiques. The Rose Bowl flea market, held on the 2nd Sunday of every month, is one of the largest ones I've been to in the US and is a fun way to spend a morning or afternoon. Leave a Comment

A Virtual Tourist fave shop in Pasadena is Distant Lands. This is a huge shop that makes me feel as if I am traveling on a fabulous tripwithout moving. This is place has wall-to-wall gorgeous and info-packed books on world destinations, culture and customs. If visiting Pasadena, you may want to drop by and check out local books of interest or get some item needed during your trip (map, travel kit, etc). Often, there are authors coming in the shop to discuss their books or about general travel-related topics. Check the elaborate website of the shop below with an updated schedule of events. This is a very nice tiny shop that makes French cooking/baking possible. They carry most of the ingredients in bulk and you buy them by their weight. Some items are purchased in packages.

This has got to be the biggest flea market I've ever seen. It's on the second Sunday of every month, right outside the Rose Bowl stadium. Admission is $7, and you can buy just about anything: clothes, collectables, even furniture. You know, I need a new couch-think you can ship that thing to New York? Here is a book and unique gift shop lover paradise. Even if you don't like to read, you'll enjoy the ambience of the place as a great place to meet up with friends or for a date.) The indie Vroman's has a rather sizeable collection of books, often featuring rare and eccentric titles. If you can't find what you're looking for here, they probably just had it or have the capability to order it. If books aren't your thing, how about a calendar, decorative coffee mug or fancy lotion bottle? There is such a variety of quirky and dainty elegant gift items are for sale here. You must come in to see all it has to offer. Note: Vroman's is a 2 story building. bargain area See general tip for more on Vroman's Leave a Comment

by Yubert Trendy boutique as well as national chain stores found in Old Town Pasadena. When I was growing up, this area was a Skid Row/Red Light district with pawn shops and Adult Book stores. Now all sorts of respectable people come to shop at places like Victoria's Secret and Chicos. Heidi Fleiss (Madame to the Stars) even had a lingerie store here. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by GracesTrips Just love this store! Not only do they carry fashionable women's clothing, they also sell kitchen ware, bedding, books, candles, bathing goodies, perfume and jewelry. They don't sell purses. I know because this particular day I was shopping for one and didn't see ANY. It's a neat store with unique items that you probably would find at most stores. There are several Anthropologies throughout the USA but not so many that you have one in every city. Twenty-three of them in the entire state of California. Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: 340 S. by GracesTrips Cool store! Modern designs for the home. From dinnerware, glassware, office, toys, utencils, etc. with a flair of unique lines with usefulness. I guess that doesn't really describe much. For example, I thought this silver twisted piece of metal stuck into a lime to be used to extract lime juice was pretty neat. It was cool looking and useful.
They had lots of stuff to buy. Lots to look at. Wine knick knacks and gadgets. Knives, watches, vases, journals, etc.
A lot! Theme: OtherAddress: 60 W. Green Street, Pasadena, CA 91105Phone: 626.432.6700Directions: Just east of the DeLacey and Green Streets corner on the north side of the road.Website: http://www.dwr.com/studios/pasadena

The Gamble House Bookstore by pigletsmom The historic Gamble House bookstore is set up in the Garage of this historic home. The store is filled with books, but also great gift items. This is a very nice bookstore. This is where you purchase tickets for the tours.
Wonderful array of art and architecture books and gifts. Really nice items reasonably priced. Replicas of tiles, pillows, lamps, clocks, etc. Fabulous collection of art books that are hard to find. They even sell items such as soaps, jewelry, and candle holders. Great place to shop for Christmas gifts because the items are so beautiful and unusual.
Prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the merchandise. Small items start at a few dollars. Leave a Comment Theme: ArtAddress: #4 Westmoreland
