Pescadero Things to Do

  • Pigeon Point Lighthouse

If you are driving down Highway One south from San Francisco then make sure you stop off at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Follow the signs to the lighthouse and hostel. The area was pretty deserted when we visited, though I understand it gets pretty crowded at the weekends as it is a very scenic place. One of the tallest lighthouses in America, this...

  • Visit The State Beach

If you've come this far you're going to want to visit the beach. Pescadero beach is a great beach for a picnic with someone special or with friends and family. When it gets hot in the bay area people head to beaches like Pescadero with their food, drinks, frisbees and beach chairs to cool off a little bit. You'll find a few picnic tables as well as...

  • I'll Ride 82 Miles for Duarte's...

Whenever I've been to Duarte's, there has been a crowd outside waiting to get in for the legendary local cuisine. But here's the thing: on the weekends, these are largely tours, so they are waiting for tables for 4, 6, 8 or more. I, the very savvy traveller, have come alone, so I slip inside and find a place at the counter. And it's really better...

  • Taqueria de Amigos - tasty burritos

Taqueria de Amigos is a small Mexican take away located in a gas station shop. You will find it in the small town of Pescadero, a short detour off Highway 1 (3 miles East). We stopped in for some lunch on our way down the coast from San Francisco to Carmel. It looked a bit dodgy from the outside, but on entering the shop our fears were quelled as...

  • Get the Specialization, not the Special!

Whether you're heading up Hwy 1 for a coastal day trip or camping up the road at Memorial Park like we were and only wanted to pack breakfast and beer, this is been the historic place to stop in for dinner since 1894. After a short wait with tourists, the local fire department, bikers, and families while eyeing the freshly splayed fish on ice and...

Pescadero Nightlife

  • Nightlife?

I'm not sure if there is nightlife in Pescadero. You'd have to ask a local to find out about that. Unless you want to take a night stroll on the beach I would suggest heading to La Honda for a beer at Applejacks. You could also head north to Half Moon Bay or south (the better choice) to Santa Cruz. If you're going to take that walk on the beach...

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bathing Suit! Shorts, Sweaters, Jackets, Hats, Sunglasses, Scarf, Socks, Two Pairs of Shoes!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Calamine Lotion, Sunscreen, Bug Spray(For TickS),

Photo Equipment: There is limited supplies for photo equipment in Pescadero.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Tent with Steaks to nail into Sand! Sleeping bags & Tarp...With the marine layer it is ALWAYS foggy in the am and evenings, so there is a heavy dew factor! Also, most beaches are windy.

Favorite thing: Visit all the shops on Main Street! Made in Pescadero was started by my best friend's dad Ken Periat. He grew up in Pescadero and started his own furnature store. We also have a wonderful bakery at Norms Market, and great food at Duartes!

Fondest memory: The appeal of going home to a place where everyone knows you when you go to 'town'. I love being able to walk in Duartes and be greeted by all my aunties!
