    Downtown Post Office

by WulfstanTraveller Written Oct 22, 2004

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Petaluma's downtown post office, opened in 1932, is really a very nice building with tall windows and a lot of ornamentation. The basic style of the building is Spanish Colonial Revival, but it is a heavily modified version of that style.

    Walnut Park Farmers Market

by blueskyjohn Updated Jul 21, 2015

Every Saturday from 2:00pm to 5:30pm there is a farmers market in Walnut Park. Walnut Park is located at the corner of Petaluma Boulevard and D Street. There is no parking for the park so you will have to find parking on a nearby side street. I stopped in and found about 20 vendors so it's a bit small. There is a number of local farms with tables selling fruit and vegetables. There are also vendors selling homemade preserves and clothing. Basically, a typical farmers market. It's a good place to support the local economy and get some fresh fruit and veggies.

    For Architecture buffs

by tvdandy Written May 24, 2007

There are some great examples of nice Victorian style architecture all around the downtown area. Kind of reminds you of the French Quarter a bit. Take your camera, take a stroll, gaze at some fine craftsmanship, and enjoy that sweet, oh so sweet, California weather

reminds me of New Orleans classic clock tower house on the riverfront

Petaluma has a beautiful old Carnegie library downtown, built in 1904, which has a stained-glass dome. It was used as the libary until 1976 and is now a museum.

Petaluma has one of the largest intact collections of Victorian homes in the state. Nearly all are in excellent condition. St Vincent DePaul Catholic Church is the most beautiful church in this town.
