Taste of Thai: Good Thai food in Placerville
We ate at this restaurant in April, 2013. Place has no real character outside but has a nice Asian theme inside. Prices are very reasonable and the food is very good to excellent. Service was prompt though not exactly cheerful. Atmosphere is very pleasant. Would definitely dine hear again next time in Placerville. This is a bit of a chain with about 3 restaurants in Sacramento and surrounding area.
Favorite Dish: Gaeng Ka Re: Choice of vegetarian or meat or shrimp with yellow curry, potatoes, carrots, onions & bell peppers.

Z Pie: Bring lots of Dough
I believe this is the original Z Pie restaurant but I am not certain. We have dined at this establishment numerous times over the years. They offer a wide variety of meat and seafood and pies and a couple vegetarian pies also. All pies are single serving size which seem to have gotten smaller over the years but I can't verify that. They are rather pricey but very tasty. Good salads also.
The atmosphere can seem a bit sterile and cold at times due to the character of the building, all cement floor and old brick/stone walls. Tables are covered with a sheet of parchment paper which also adds to the effect I suppose they are seeking. Also rather noisy at times due to the acoustics of all the stone surrounding you.. The problem is: at $8 per pie, $6 per salad plus $2.50 for hot tea or soda, add tip and tax and you're at $20/person. Rather expensive as a lunch option. As for Dinner, the atmosphere just isn't there.
I am having difficulty writing negatives for this restaurant as the food is very tasty, but the prices are just too high. The value isn't there.

I enjoyed dining out in the Placerville area. One of our favorite places was located in Pollock Pines. This place served wonderful Mexican cuisine in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Observe.......... :)
