Tides are the center of the world .....

by kymbanm Written Feb 23, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: When visiting this coastal area, knowing the tides is important to your experience. For example, you can only see the wonderful rock formations of Bowling Ball beach during low tide ..... High tide is not a good time to tidepool either :)

Pick up a copy of the Independent Coast Observer (ICO). The ICO is a local paper that will help you with the tide watch, as well as let you know what is occuring locally - picnics, Druid Hall abalone b-fasts, parades, etc ...... think of it as your paper based internet while on vacation in Point Arena :)

    Fog or Sun today???

by kymbanm Written Feb 23, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Typical north coast weather is cool and comfortable. Temperatures seldom rise above 72 nor dip below 50. Rainfall is heavy from September to May, and morning and evening fog is common during the summer months. Strong winds prevail year-round. October can be much warmer than summer months; sweatshirts and shorts are common attire.

Despite this atypical vacation weather, Point Arena is my favorite place to visit ....

Fondest memory: I love the morning fog, the sealion 'talk', wandering on the beach tidepooling while bundled against the evening chill.... heavenly memories :)

    Manchester

Fondest memory: ... you see this intersection :) This is my landmark to find the Manchester Cemetary, where I go to see Dr Davis' angel (see my Point Arean page for that pic) and to just wander ......
