In San Francisco, the food is marvelous. Eat in Chinatown. Eat at Fisherman's Wharf. The restaurants used to be great. I assume they still are.

There are many good restaurants in LA and surrounding areas. Most of the trendy restaurants will be in the Beverly Hills area, which offer pretty good food and good atmosphere.. My favorites in that area are the Crustacean, the Stinking Rose... For a romantic date, many restaurants off of PCH are very nice: Gladstones, Geoffrey's in Malibu.. and after you're done a nice drive on PCH is always nice once you get past the Malibu area...There are also some good restaurants in the Santa Monica area: I like Rebecca's for its great Mexican food and drinks.. They make a killer margarita... When in doubt, go for Mexican...

Visit Fish restaurants (in Fisherman's Wharf), or chinese restaorants (one was near the Trans American Building, can't remember name), but food on cruise ships driving to Golden Gate Bridge and Bay is not very good...

First St. Cafe, The Petal Restaurant, Kaigan Japanese Restaurant, El Sandoval, Sala Thai Restaurant are a few samples of the diverse cuisine available at the main street in Benicia.
My favorite, of course being Asian, is Sala Thai. The food, service and ambiance is terrific. Each item in the menu is freshly cooked and they cater to individual preferences.
The food is really great. The ambiance is cozy. It is a nice place to go and relax on a Friday evening.
Kids are welcome but if you have little kids that cannot sit still, you may not want to go there. As I said it has a very cozy and romantic ambiance that a very hyperactive child may be out of place in the restaurant. The price, just like other Asian restaurants, are very very reasonable. The serving size is just right for an individual.
Pad Thai is my favorite. It is a pan-fried noodle dish. Though it will be a mistake to shun other dishes in the menu. They are all equally delicious. All are cooked with fresh ingredients that owner/chef, Kay Kalayanamitr-Loyola, herself picked up that morning at a fresh produce market. and soul
restaurants on my list are not pricey high in quality..original in presentation..

In SANTA BARBARA...there's a sushi restaurant called Kyoto that is wonderful, you have to take your shoes off and everything! There's a nice tapas bar in SB also called 'Alcazar' that has a great ambiance. In HOLLYWOOD there's a great place called El Floridita, but be sure to make reservations weeks in advance. There's live salsa music and a VERY upscale crowd. Dress to impress! In ORANGE COUNTY there's a wonderful all-you-can-eat sushi/seafood place called Sumo. Save your appetitie so you can take full advantage of all the different types of food!
