That would be my only tip for any visitor coming to Sacramento. The locals really are loyal to their Kings and are pretty passionate about them. That is why they are known to be the LOUDEST fans in the NBA. They have a very loyal following here.
Also.....NEVER...NEVER...NEVER...call Sacramento a "COW TOWN"...there are no cows anywhere near Sacramento. If you want "Cows", go to Bakersfield where the cattle ranches are or go to Vallejo but don't expect to see "COWS" here anytime soon ~ except for Holloween. :-)
I noticed that another VTer called Sac very casual, and that's very true. People are friendly and relaxed. Sacramentoians (I think I just made that up but I kind of like it....I'll start a trand!!!)are removed enough from San Francisco that we lose a bit of the pretension that goes along with the city and we welcome tourists rather than scoff at them.
Everyone we met in Sacramento not only seemed extremely friendly and helpful, but they really seemed to appreciate and genuinely love the outdoors. It was great enjoying all that Sacramento had to offer.
If you happen to be in Sacramento during NBA season, try to go see the Kings at the Arco Arena. They are a great team who almost beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the Western Championship in 2002. The Sacramento fans are great and VERY noisy! Here is a pic of my favorite team member, Mike Bibby
They have all kinds of memorials that have been created over the years. The statue comemmorating Spanish War Veterans stood near a little pond with fountain. It was near the Civil War Memorial Grove.
I decided the people of Sacramento must be very civic-minded.
