The Firehouse Restaurant: Outstanding Crabcakes
In the ambiance of an old (ok, only by US standards...a hundred or so) firehouse, complete with Brass Pole (but you can't use it now), Old Town Sacramento hosts a fine dining gem.
Favorite Dish: The appitizer, Crab Cakes made me forget what I even ordered for a main course. Outstanding...

The Firehouse Restaurant building in Old Sacramento was built in 1853. This restaurant serves wonderful food and has a nice shady patio for outdoor dining. Here is a sample of their dessert menu:

with wild field berries, strawberry coulis
Citrus Chèvre Cheesecake
with pistachio nut crust, Bosc pear poached in Cointreau
Flourless Valrhona Chocolate Sin
with Crown Royal bourbon, candied pecans and burnt bananas, served with chocolate sauce and spiced tuile
Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée
with white chocolate macadamia nut cookie and candied nuts
Favorite Dish: We had a VT meeting at this restaurant. Everybody enjoyed the food.

The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento: Don't Go To This Restaurant
Don't waste your money at The Firehouse Restaurant. Grant it, years ago this restaurant probably had a booming business. It's in a historic old firehouse and was always known for gourmet food. Things have changed allot and it's not worth your money! The service and management are horrible...the prices are outrageous and the food is nothing special. My family and I went there recently for Mother's Day. The price was $44.95. The meat that was served to us was pre-cooked obviously and then probably heated up prior to being served. It had a disgusting spongey, almost pudding texture inside. Who could screw up dessert? Right?? They did! They described their chocolate pudding as a "cloud". You would think it was soft. Right? We had to ask for knifes!!! For $44.95, no drinks were included. Overall, it was not worth the money and we were very dissapointed. The restaurant also stunk in certain areas like old, dirty, wet laundry.
Seriously, don't waste your money. The Firehouse Restaurant is NOT what it used to be.
Favorite Dish: The fresh shrimp that was served before the Mother's Day lunch was very good.
The Firehouse: Delicous gourmet food in the heart of Old Town
A deep wine list, a delicious menu of first, second and third courses, not to mention the desserts. Ohhh, the desserts! Impeccable service to boot.
The Firehouse: And what is dinner without a great dessert?
How about a chocolate rum cake, served on a bed of banana slices, topped with banana gelato, with a sprinkle of caramelized pineapple? Ohhhhhh.
