...through Old Town. As we were strolling through old town, it was hard to miss the horse drawn carriages taht took tourists from one end of old town to the other. Perhaps this is a tourist trap... on second thought it probably is... but I love horses and the idea is just charming. So here it stays, as a Must See Activity. Leave a Comment

The Sacramento Bike Trail covers 30 miles from Old Sacramento to Folsom dam. It follows the river and is a great place for picnicking, swimming and fishing. The river is popular for rafting, kayaking and canoeing. Bicycles can be rented at various hotels or in Old Sacramento Leave a Comment

A really fun thing to do is to get a bike and ride along the river. There is some terrific scenery and the trail is paved and mostly shaded. Leave a Comment Address: You can hop on the trail from Old town Sac.

If you want a bit more af a challange than a paved trail, head up to Folsom Lake (see my off the beaten path). Folsom boasts one of the best single track bike trails around. There is also a paved trail in the town of Folsom as well, which is fun and runs along Lake Natomas. Leave a Comment Directions: JUst head up Hyway 50 to down town Folsom. The trail is along the river, you can't miss it.
