    Walking around Balboa Park you can find hundreds various plants. They look just beautiful. Go and admire them!

    Wandering around Balboa Park on my last day I stumbled upon the Japanese Friendship Garden. It ended up being a great find. It has a tea pavilion, zen garden, bunsai garden, koi (carp) pond, and several other sights. It's not very big but it was a great experience to end my trip. I was lucky enough to get a personalized tour from one of the volunteers. I ended my visit with lunch and tea at the pavilion. You can get more information from their website www.niwa.org.     House of Pacific Relations at Balboa Park is open Sunday from noon to 5 pm. There are about a dozen tiny cottages in a group here and each cottage represents a different nation. Good place to learn about other countries and be entertained.

    Japanese Friendship Garden is about halfway between PanAmerica Plaza and Plaza De Panama at Balboa Park. Admission to the traditional gardens cost $2 and it is closed on Mondays and I believe also Wednesdays. I liked the bonsai trees and the koi pond. There is a tea pavillion near the entrance to relax in and have a cup of tea.

    Remember the 'Red Baron'? This is a fokker triplane like the Red Baron flew in World War I. It is located in the San Diego Aerospace Museum at Balboa park. Great museum full of machines that depict the history of flight.

    San Diego Model Railroad Museum is in Balboa Park. The main feature of the museum is a vast room with model train lay outs inside of it. I had an electric train set when I was a boy so I liked this place.

    Spreckels Organ Pavillion in Balboa Park has free concerts on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 pm and some times in the evening. I heard this organ and it is an amazing sound. There are 4,518 individual pipes in this organ.

    This beautiful structure houses beyond the lilly pad pool houses a botanical garden. It is located in Balboa Park. It is free but closed on Thursdays. It is just behind the Timken Art Museum which is also free.
