The Corvette Diner: Way Cool '50s Place
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • A 1950's diner feel with a great all-American menu. Tons of old-school milkshakes, sandwiches, salads, etc..

As the name of the place might imply, there is plenty of vintage Corvette memorabilia all over the place there including a great 56(?) Vette in the main dining room.

Corvette's also features a live DJ in a studio booth who spins all kinds of oldies.

Your kids will love this place.

    Gotta love the shakes.

The Corvette Diner: When eating around the SDSU...
  • Tip Rating:
  • When eating around the SDSU college area some of my favorite places to eat are Woodstock's Pizza, Rubio's, Living Room Coffee House, Corvette Diner in Hillcrest, and Trophy's Sports Grill in Hazard Center.
The atmosphere is young...remember you are in the heart of college town. Corvette Diner has a '50s theme (bar & grill).

At Woodstock's you have to try their wild bread with ranch dressing or any pizza with Pear Cidar. At Rubio's you have to try their fish tacos. At the Living Room you have to have a mint mocha with anything from the menu it is all good. Trophy's Sports Grill is the best place to watch any game.

The Corvette Diner: Fun 50s Atmosphere
This place is set up with a 50s atmosphere and the food is authentic traditional 50s style. There is an actual Corvette in the lobby and a deejay playing 50s style music. The waitresses will put on a "show" for you when the music's right. It's twin restaurant is the Thunderbird Cafe in Escondido.

I really liked the Rory burger which has peanut butter and the peanut butter malts. They also have meatloaf and other traditional foods. All dishes use authenic ingredients. Don't come to this place if you're on a diet!

The Corvette Diner: A must for families!
  • Satisfaction:
  • This place is simial to the 5 and Diner here, but with more spirit and a live DJ. My kids really enjoyed the music, a fun wait staff, dancing on the counters, and throwing straws at everyone.

Oh...plenty of food and it was very good too!

A must visit if you have kids. It gets very crowded after 7, so come early. Park in the garage across the street if you can't find a street space.

Salads were very good and the fried were excellent!

Exceptional - what else to say ... more? ok here we go.

The corvette Diner is located in the Hillcrest Area of San Diego. It's food range is good and it caters for a wide range. The alcohol list was inpressive but due to the fact I was driving I had to pass on the booze .... BUT my wife didn't. So she and her friend had a few shots etc.

The food was well prepared and weas tastey and with lots of flavour. Well worth my dollars. Mum went for a lasagna as "it won't be too big" .. see the photo to see the reality !

The waiters and waitresses would suddenly throw their arms in the air and then do a dance routine in the middle of the floor ... it was very entertaining. All of them were polite and a man came round and did a magic trick for my son .. he wasn't too impressed as he was in a mood .. but we liked it ... :)

All in all ... on our return to SD ... this is a definate revisit. It was a fun trip for the family and I suspect a romantic trip for a couple. WONDERFL.

    Opening Hours:
    Sunday thru Thursday
    11a.m.-10 p.m.
    Friday and Saturday
    11a.m.- 11p.m.

Well ... my favourite was the Burger ... and chips etc.
My Mum had the lasagna and I can't remember what everyone else had .. but we all enjoyed it ....
