    Oceanaire: OCEANAIRE - Seafood Room

by Pawtuxet Updated Feb 9, 2014

This new restaurant has a wonderful combination of fine cuisine, decor and service. Fish is the specialty, and the deserts are enormous...suggest sharing. So decadant! I dared not try one.
It's in the Gaslamp District at 400 J Street...at the corner of 4th. (?) I believe. Be prepared for some elaborate pampering.
    Sorry....I didn't take any photos.

    Oceanaire: Top Sea Food Place

The food is excellent. I just ate there and can say that you will enjoy it. The oyster of the day will set the start of a delicious meal.(at only 1.50, you cant go wrong) The atmosphere is fancy, nice but not pretencious. The service is top nocht and far beyond great. Start at the bar and work your way to the table.

Favorite Dish: There are many but the Grouper was very very good. Firm , juicy and just ight. This with an assortment of vegies will surely hit the spot for you.

    Oceanaire: Happy Hour

by juliogg Updated Dec 30, 2010

Excelent Seafood. One of the BEST in Town. Great atmosphere. This second post is because I was just there last night during "Happy Hour" and had to Recomend it. Happy hour is from 5 to 6 and WELL WORTH IT. We sat at the bar and ordered non stop. The oysters are 1 Dllr. each. The 5 Oyster Rockafeller were 6 bucks. The Large serving of Mussels were 5 buck. You get what Im saying. Its a great place to stop while walking the Gaslamp District. Cant say enough about Happy Hour. Get there early because the best seats are at the bar.

Favorite Dish: The Oysters are fresher than fresh. The Rockafellers are great.

    Oceanaire: Upscale '40s vibe

by acemj Updated Jan 28, 2006

When I first walked into Oceanaire, I felt like putting on a suit and tie and listening to Cab Calloway. It has that 1930s, snap your fingers, smoke a cigarette feel, with all the waiters wearing sharp white suits and plenty of smooth, dark wooden booths and leather seats. The bathrooms are white tile and white towel affairs and the bar is long and crowded.

Favorite Dish: The place is known for seafood, which they fly in fresh everyday and I can attest that the oysters were great. I also tried a salad that was pretty mediocre and we all split some appetizers that were unevenly good.
