Todai Restaurant: SubPar Sushi, but lots of it!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The trend out in Southern California today is to have all you can eat sushi, and Todai was touted as one of the best places according to most people I have talked to... how wrong were they?

I did not like Todai at all for the sushi... it was marginal at best, but yes... there was plenty of it.

I would not recommend this if your desire is sushi, however they did have a very large menu other than raw fish, and I actually enjoyed their lobster... which was baked with a cheesy topping.

Todai Restaurant: We call it Too-Die

Todai Restaurant: Can you eat all?
  • Satisfaction:
  • Todai is one of the best all-you-can-eat restaurants in SD. I really don't know what theme is more appropriate (a japanese-chinese-seafood restaurant) but the food is really good. It has three different buffets: cold, hot and desserts and you can eat all. The sushis are not their strength but the hot food, ah, the hot food. And for dessert try the "Creme Brulee"

    The lobster and Creme Brulee

Todai Restaurant: Do You Like Sushi?
Ther are two great competitors in the all you can eat buffet japanese food category. Todai restaurant in Mission Valley and Onami in Mission Valley and North county inland near Escondido at the North County Fair Mall. These places have more variety of sushi and japanese food than anyplace anywhere. Be sure to arrive before 1:30pm for lunch because they close at 2:30pm for dinner preparation. Dinner costs more but includes more varieties of more costly items like lobster. 13.95 lunch 22.95 for dinner...discount coupons sometimes available in free San Diego Reader Magazine or online at same.

    Too Many!

    Todai Restaurant: Excellent Buffet
  • Satisfaction:
  • The food at this Japaneese style buffet is very well presented and is excellent. The buffet is divided into 3 sections: A grill, a seafood section and a sushi section. The only problem is that since it all looks and tastes so good and is a buffet, it is very difficult not to over eat.
