It has all the usual (and some unusual) stores, but what makes in so interesting is the architecture. There seem to be shops tucked away in corners, with various interesting views all around. As we were up early, we actually arrived an hour before the stores opened, but we spent our time wandering around, taking lots of photos and video, and tasting free samples from the restaurants in the food court! (The Indian butter chicken was the best!)
You can find just about anything at Horton Plaza. From Nordstrom to Mervyns, from Hot Topic to Hot Licks, its all there. Leave a Comment

Horton Plaza is a big mall in downtown San Diego. The good thing about it is that it doesn't have a roof! With so many sunny days in San Diego a roof isn't really necessary. You can spend hundreds of dollars here and get a suntan for free ;-)
You find all kinds of shops here, mostly clothes and shoe shops. On the top floor there's a food court with "the usual suspects" of fast food dining in California.
Lots! Don't even get started ;-) Leave a Comment

(4th & Broadway)Pictured here is the front of Horton Plaza (North side.) Sam Gooddy is a huge and popular music store, Planet Hollywood Restaurant is here and just in front is the original Horton Plaza Park. Horton Plaza is more than a shopping mall. About 1985 the city decided to "re-vitalize" the downtown area and first on it's list was Horton Plaza, named after one of our historical "fathers," Alanzo Horton. Horton plaza was the town square of San Diego, a park area, with fountain in the center (of the original plan) of downtown. The city grew enormous around this little plaza which, over the years became the breeding ground for the homeless, prostitutes, transvestites and beggars of the city. Re-vitalization consisted of a wonderful, eclectically designed "mall." A few major chain stores, unique shops selling anything from clothes to kitchen wares, theaters, a food court, a few nice restaurants and much more can be found in the multi-levels. This was built for the residents as much as for tourists. The parking lot can be confusing, so make sure you note where you parked your car. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Horton Plaza is a sight to see and a place to experience. This colorful, mulitlevel (seven levels) center offers 140 shops, restaurants, boutiques and bistros. The Lyceum Theater, United Artist Cineplex and the live music played throughout the seven levels are a treat for those not in the mood for shopping. The Food Court offers a variety to satisfy any mood and if fast food isn't your thing there are some pretty nice restaurants here also. My two favorite restaurants are Napa Valley Grille (Which is a full service restaurant and bar. The prices are higher and the menu changes at the Chef's discretion. ) and Panda Inn (Also a full sevice restaurnat with bar, with outside seating and a view of the bay from it's huge dining room windows. Moderately priced menu and delicious food.) Oh, sorry, this isn't a restaurant tip is it? Horton Plaza offers shopping for all interests and budgets! Leave a Comment

One of the biggest plaza in San Diego. The most famous chain brand could be found there. In the higher layer, there are several food stores and a theater. With buying anything, there are three hours free parking.
Beside clothes, there is a special chocolate store where you can find a lot of delicate gift box. Also, some toy's stores are very cute. Leave a Comment

Outside of San Francisco, this is the largest Sanrio shop I've found in the USA. Would you believe I can't visit San Diego, with any of my daughters, without stopping at this store?!! They HAVE to go here. So we made a special stop at Horton Plaza to visit my girls' mecca, just last weekend! And they did spend their money, too! I resisted buying anything, this time, but I think that was a first for me. There's a lot of choices carefully packed into this colorful store. Do you already know Sanrio? It has been around for at least 3 decades & is from Japan. Even adults in Japan are nuts about this stuff. I've heard that Japanese businessmen are known to pull out a Batz Maru calculator or bento box! Batz Maru is a male creature that is black in color with a pointy hairdo. There are a few other male-oriented Sanrio characters, but the line mostly appeals to females. If you like cute, girly things, this is the place to go! You can buy anything from Hello Kitty kitchen appliances to school supplies. Other Sanrio characters are featured, too & this time we could choose from some Sesame Street and Peanuts characters, too. Georgia couldn't resist The Count from Sesame St. & loves her new clutch purse!! ( I wish I knew how to underline the word "loves"!!!)
from 35 cents for Sanrio candy ( you have to try it!) to over a hundred dollars if you want to! Leave a Comment

Horton Plaza is a mall in the heart of San Diego which is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. It is an interesting place to visit even if you aren't interested in shopping. Horton Plaza has seven levels and covers more than six city blocks with 172 shops and restaurants. You cann find virtually any necessity here and lots of luxuries, plus souvenirs. You might even catch a little sidewalk entertainment. Karen bought a bright red "San Diego" shirt, and we also found a few postcards and a refrigerator magnet which I added to my collection. We also enjoyed a snack here. Serious shoppers could easily spend the entire day here. Horton Plaza is a stop on the San Diego Trolly Tour. Leave a Comment

The shops here a typical American mall shops, but the mall itself is great. It's an open, outdoor mall that is painted in 43 colors, set on many levels and is very interesting architecturally. It winds its way through over 6 city blocks and has 172 shops and restaurants. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

San Diego has a lot of great shopping, but perhaps the best shopping mall is right downtown at Horton Plaza. This plaza makes shopping fun with it's modern Sante Fe Deco and it's 3 level of shopping walkways.
Every shop you could ever imagine is at this plaza. There is also an abundance of restaurants with just your taste in mind. Leave a Comment Theme: Department Store
