We went to the San Diego Ntl. History Museum for a special exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The exhibit was great, and since we were already there, we decided to check out the rest of the place. The museum's permanent exhibit is called "Fossil Mysteries" and shows all about evolution on Earth. Nice dinosaurs. It's a great to bring kids to this since it has a lot of interactive features.

The other exhibit at the time was "Contemporary Israeli Photography". We know that there are some fascinating places to see and take photos of in Israel/Palestine, but that really wasn't captured in this exhibit. Not quite sure what this was - maybe we just don't understand art!

Founded in 1874, the museum is an oldest active research institution and is the in Southern California. The museum is dedicated to interpreting the natural world through research and education. When we went then, they had these huge animated creatures which I found pretty cool. Plus they have all sorts of programs for all to enjoy!

Hours: Daily 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

I just walked from the ZOO passing by Spanish Village Art Center and the large Moreton Bay fig tree.

There two entrances: northern and southern (main).

There are a lot of museums of Natural History in the USA, I suppose. What's that? We say museum of nature, is that the same?

San Diego Natural History Museum features its own giant-screen film, Ocean Oasis, taking visitors on a journey through Baja California and the Sea of Cortés.

In the new, 90,000 sq. ft. expansion, you can also enjoy traveling exhibitions and regional displays of its 7.5 million specimen scientific collection in the disciplines of paleontology, mineralogy,botany, entomology, marine invertebrates, herpetology, ornithology, and mammalogy. Educational programs include classes, lectures, nature walks, teacher workshops, and the loan library. Add museum store.

Hmm... I skipped it. I spent too much time in the ZOO, I suppose - but it was great time :-). The white, big building of the museum looked quite nice hehe.

The building which houses San Diego Natural History Museum stands on the left side of the main street of Balboa Park: El Prado just at its end.
Quite nice and - no doubts - large, white building.

Even if you don't visit the San Diego natural History Museum you can admire the architecture of the big white building and first of all beautiful plants which grow around it.
