Balboa Park. San Diego's pride and joy is a combined vision of Alonzo Horton (he's known as 'the Father of San Diego') and Kate O. Sessions, who planted trees here from around the globe. The park's beautifully landscaped acres contain museums, rose and cactus gardens, the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, the world-class San Diego Zoo, the outdoor theater Starlight Bowl and the Old Globe Theatre complex. Plenty of open space for strolling and lingering. Weekends are especially active with street performers and artists entertaining. Occasionally traditional tea ceremonies take place in the serene harmony of the Japanese Friendship Garden. Tuesday and Friday-Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. $2 adults, $1 students and seniors. (619) 232-2721.

    Seaworld is a tourist trap...

by jwhale Written Aug 24, 2002

Seaworld is a tourist trap that is worth the visit. Upgrade your ticket and do some of the behind-the-scenes tours that are available. The photo here is of a beluga whale as seen from behind the underwater viewing glass. I got lucky the photo turned out so well.

Worth the trip and gives you a chance to walk off all the great food you have eaten during your trip. You can always find a ride from one end to the other if you dont want to walk.
The Sea Lion show was fun, but I didnt get wet, I even sat in front.
