There are few things in any town or country that I would consider a tourist trap.
Especially in San Diego, where most of the renovations are geared towards "resident's" use, as much as tourist's use. I might concede that the parking lot at Horton Plaza may be a bit of a trap. The multi-level facility is not a straight forward set of levels, more like half levels. It makes for a better chance of parking close to the stores, but confuses the heck out of people parking their cars on one of these levels.
Everytime I'm in Horton Plaza I hear people saying, "Honey, do you know where we parked our car?"
The photos is The Lyceum Theatre entrance where you can have someone drop you off so you won't have to park your car anywhere.
Unique Suggestions:
When you park in Horton Plaza, take note of the Fruit level you are on and remember the shop names on either side as you pass from the parking lot to the shopping area. This should really help you find your car later on.
Fun Alternatives:
Another way of finding your car is to look very pathetic and ask one of the security guys to drive you around in their little cart until you find your car. They are quite nice about the request and will help you out in good humor.
This place is a small company that rents vehicles, problems that they will upgrade your vehicle's price but not the vehicle they tacked on $20 each day for a Toyota Corolla which came out to what I would of paid for a full size vehicle in another company. The one I got was extremely dirty and no fuel in it. Only good thing about it was the shuttle to & from the airport -- all I can say is NEVER again.
Unique Suggestions:
Get any other company!!
Most of the malls in San Diego are far off, this is the only one downtown-Horton Plaza(LEFT)
Seaport Village - a great place to go for a stroll and spend the afternoon.
Water Duck, Wild Duck.... whatever you call these guys, they're appearing at any town with a stream......
Overall, not a bad way to see some towns.....
