Alcatraz N.P.: Alcatraz-"the Hole"
  • Tip Rating:
  • The hardest of prisoners at Alcatraz (and that's saying something!) were sent into solitary confinement. This block of cells was called "the Hole". A "prison within the prison", these cells are unusually cold, dark places. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in one of these cells-on second thought, I'd rather not.

Golden Gate Bridge: The Golden Gate, a 2004 view
  • Tip Rating:
  • This has been taken from the same point of view as I did in 1999.
This monster is almost 2 miles long, a real miracle of engineering when it was completed in 1937.
It is a toll bridge, when you live San Francisco through it heading north it is free, when you try to come back you have to pay 3 dollars just after exiting to San Francisco.
    WONDERFUL

    UNION SQUARE: UNION SQUARE
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is Union Square in the foggy morning.
This is the beating heart of San Francisco.
Many offices and megastores are in the surrounding area.
The place is crowded with people and traffic is also relevant.
Everything, anyway, works with an appearance of great order as in the most of the USA places I visited.

    VT Members/ Antics: White Rabbit.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Coincidences, synchronicities, points of kismet entwined... What was the last remaining numbered print of Grace Slick's "White Rabbit" portrait on hand at the gallery that day...? Take your guess, for numbers have their significance whether in Sausalito or Khajuraho...

VT Members/ Antics: Through the Looking Glass.
  • Tip Rating:
  • From my perspective, VT was like a new kind of looking glass... And that's why I chose the motif for my journey... Having met people through VT, having seen their worlds, I wanted to enter into them, and experience their lives, their realms... Or to use a pop culture reference, I was like Spock at Sarpeidon...

    CHINATOWN: SF Colours
  • Tip Rating:
  • While walking through Grant street at Chinatown, you can find a colourful street, ok it is shops, and souvenir shops (even worst lol) or it is just maybe that after visiting London or New York Chinatowns, for my first time I was impressed…

    Lombard Street: Lombard Street
  • Tip Rating:
  • An original point of view of the Lombard Street.
I want to be always original and never succeed in trying this. This is taken while the others were trying their luck with the California Megalottery.
In don't believe in luck and I preferred to plan to bother you with this.
I sense is actually possible to find in this picture, infact it shows how long that road is, and in the distance you MAY see the most famous twisting portion of the road that everybody want to visit

    Ghiradelli Square: THE CANNERY
  • Tip Rating:
  • Fisherman's wharf. A place to live and enjoy.
San Francisco is not what is called a "busy town".
People seems to take thinks with calm, no hurry or trouble, at least, in appearance.
Fisherman's wharf is a nice place on top of the peninsula, in front of the bay, where shops of every kind are available.
Many areas are really typical, like this Cannery. A building dating back in the early 1900's, now filled with shops.

S.F. Streets: Parking in san Francisco
  • Tip Rating:
  • Richmond Street here. Here was where we used to park, in an expensive public parking, while wandering in the downtown San Francisco.
There is almost no chance you may park along the streets in San Francisco as in many other major cities in the United States, unless you use to bring one kilogram of coins with you.
The only chance is to choose one public parking and be ready to pay up to 40 dollars for a whole day park. Very expensive

As I said, I was like Spock at Sarpeidon... And VT was the atavachron... Giampiero was the crazed Mr. Atoz, sending me through the portal into the library's many worlds... Johnny_CA was like Dr. McCoy and Geisha_Girl was Zarabeth... and I returned to my primitive state...
