SF Streets, San Francisco

Take photos of KFOG Kaboom's amazing firework spectacular. My camera is just not good enough to do justice to fireworks. However, Wayne (wallacephoto) is a professional photographer and has spent lots of money to make sure he's got a camera good enough. Here's Wayne, just before the fireworks start, ready to shoot away. Perhaps he'll be kind enough to give me a couple fireworks shots to post here when he's downloaded them.

If you're into photography, San Francisco is an interesting place to teach yourself about taking pictures in low light. I had a lot of fun. I talked my friend Freya and her father into bringing me to a couple different places searching for that perfect shot. I'm not sure I found it yet, but I sure had fun trying.

Maybe this is not the nightlife tip you were hoping for... But we went out across the harbour to have a beautiful view at night at the skyline of San Francisco.

It was quite a task to get it organised as not everybody wanted to take us there at that time of day (night). But we succeeded and we're very glad we achieved it.

The view at the skyline and the bridge were amazing and we stayed there for quite a while.

We took Johnny and friends through a stroll down Broadway and Columbus. The heart of North Beach.

This area must have seemed pretty *tame* to our boy Johnny after coming back from the seedy side of the Red Light in A'dam.

Union Street (in the Marina District)

Great place to watch the 'beautiful' people. The best of Union Street extends from Franklin to Steiner, then runs down Fillmore to Lombard.

Don't miss the clubby ambience of the Balboa Cafe on Fillmore Street (pictured here).

Sidebar: Balboa café happens to serve the best hamburger in the City, served on a crisp, hollowed-out baguette; think mushrooms, griddled onions, bacon, cheddar, Swiss, jack, even blue cheese!

The viewpoint northwest of Golden Gate Bridge. You have to leave the road at the first exit north of the bridge. The road leads into the coastal hills. It's kind of tricky to find. Actually I missed the point when I tried to find it again after one year. But once you found it, the view is breathtaking. Especially at night. The illuminated bridge and the city look simply great. After a cool beer while sitting on the hood of your car and watching the impressive scenary, you should get back to the city and hit the bars and clubs.

China Town is fun to walk through, especially at night when the stores are still open. The food stores and herbal stores are the most interesting. If you must buy souvenirs, don't hesitate to bargain when you buy jewelry. You can often get a much lower price than shown on the ticket.

Fisherman’s Wharf. From there you can explore the Wharf, Pier 39 with lots of shops and restaurants and Ghiradelli Square.
Ghiradelli is the famous chocolate factory.

Of course one cannot miss the notorious sea lions at the end of Pier 39 where you can sea far away the famous 'bad-reputated' Alcatraz-prison Island. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go there and visit the ROCK.
