Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring a jacket, sweatshirt, coat, something warm regardless of the time of year. The tourist trap trinket shops make a killing on people who think, 'Hey! we're going to California in the summer. Why should I bring a jacket?' If you want a wearable reminder of your trip, there are some nice ones interspersed with the garbage. Remember you're going to be surrounded by water (cold water at that) with a nearly constant wind from the ocean. It's a worn-out quote, but it is worth repeating 'The coldest winter I ever spent was one summer in San Francisco.' -- Mark Twain

Luggage and bags: A backpack or fannypack is best to get through the sightseeing and with all the walking.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Take a lightweight sweatshirt or long sleeved shirt to tie around your waist, cause in the day it may start out kind of warm and breezy but by evening it will be cool and breezy. We had to buy a cheap sweatshirt to wear over to Alcatraz cause we were very cold even dressed in pants and long-sleeved shirts.

Visting Bay area bring a Sweater / Jacket

by XKuger Written Jul 19, 2004

Luggage and bags: Nothing special to mention here

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Comfortble walking shoes as the city is very safe and its most convenient to walk aroud most parts of the city.

If you are going to be close to the bay or ocean area, most definitly bring a sweater or jacket. However if you are a cold blooded dude like me, you don't need outer clothing.

However even I felt cold due to the breeze after the sun set over the Golden Gate bridge and the breeze picked up on the high view points around the bridge.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring Very Comfortable Shoes- As Is the City is extremely Hilly if you walk or even waiting for the Cable car will be awhile. ALWAYS bring a Jacket or Sweatshirt. No Matter how hot it is during the day, the temperature will drop significantly at night- Don't be caught freezing!

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Make sure you bring a sweater and jacket because it gets really chilly at night. Also, good walking shoes because you will need them for walking up all of the hills!
