Here's old Bubba who sometimes sits out front to greet the tourists who come to eat in Bubba Gump's Restaurant. This chain restaurant serves up exceptional food for a chain. This is a fun place with great atmosphere, and they take great care of kids with a special menu, and the waiters banter with them which helps them stay occupied.
This restaurant has a great view of Oakland Bay Bridge, and if you get a table at the far end, a view of Alcatraz.
I think that the prices for food at Bubbas is not overpriced for tourist fare.
You don't need a reservation.
Look for stairs on the right side of the pier (39) as you near the end. Go up and turn left.
If your kids are tired of shopping and being a tourist, this place is for you.
Don't expect fresh crab, etc. like you will find further down at Fishermans' Wharf, and if that is what you are looking for walk down to Fishermans' Whart. The walk will build up an apetite.
Favorite Dish:
They have great shrimp, of course. Several different ways of cooking and presenting it.
Usually not one for chain restaurants, I had never been to a Bubba Gump's and thought it would be neat to try. Food was good, service was good and had a great view of the Bay. Now that I've been to one don't think I'd go back.
Fun, fun, and good food. The staff is terrific. The food is excellent, and the location is perfect. A result of the movie, Forrest Gump, but fun never the less. Brush up on your Gump-isms and trivia and you could win a drink or two from your servers. The staff has always gone above and beyond. And, you'll never hear, "this isn't my table, I'll send your server over"....just flip that Stop Forrest Stop sign up and see what happens.........!!
Favorite Dish:
Shrimp anything, it's what they do best. Everyone at our table was most satisfied with their meals. The fish was not overdone, the shrimp was tender and the pasta had by the vegan was excellent too. We've been to the locations in Hawaii and Oahu as well as this one, and never been dissappointed.
This is a touristy type restaurant that has a Forest Gump theme. I'm sure there are much better seafood restaurants in Fisherman's Wharf, but I wanted to try this because I'm a fan of the movie and I've heard that the restaurant was pretty good.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere to it. It's covered in Forest Gump memorabillia and it has a bar-type atmosphere.
On a Saturday night, service is pretty good as there are a ton of waiters and waitresses. As far as the food, its not bad. Maybe not worth it for the price... but I guess it was sort of an experience, sort of like going to Hard-Rock Cafe. If you like shrimp, then this is the place to go... most of the items on the menu feature shrimp. They have this cool deal, if you order beer in the 22oz pilsner glass, you get a free Bubba Gump pilsner glass from the giftshop after your meal.
And if you want to complete the tourist experience, there's a gift shop next door. Outside of the restaurant, there's a bench that has a replica of Forest Gump's briefcase and a box of chocolates as well as a replica of his Nike shoes so you can sit on the bench ala Forest Gump and take a picture.
Favorite Dish:
Its not my favorite as I've only been there one time, but I ordered the "Boat Trash" item which is lobster strips, shrimp and mahi-mahi, all deep friend with fries and coleslaw. The fries and coleslaw were below average. But the seafood was pretty good and the portions are pretty huge... but then again, most restaurants in this country serve huge portions.
This restaurant offers delicious seafood while presenting the theme from the film "Forrest Gump". Bubba, who loves shrimp in the movie, has his shrimp dishes on the menu. This is a fun restaurant to eat in, and the food is pretty delicious as well.
We loved this restaurant and had an awesome dinner of seafood with wine and beer to top it off nicely. It has an excellent theme (Forrest Gump) and is funky and fresh. The staff are young and outgoing and very helpful with the menu selections.
Any down off piers 39-41 and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
You can get great seafood at restaurants and little stands all around the piers. It's pretty cheap but it is the best I've ever had!
Bubba Gump is themed with all kinds of parafanelia from the movie forrest gump. There's even a guy that dresses up as forrest that you can take pictures with otuside on the bench with the box of chocolates and all.
Favorite Dish:
Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bread Bowl...mmmmm
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant & Market
Yes, it's just like the movie, 'Forrest Gump.' This restaurant was created as a spin-off of that movie. It has a fun, casual atmosphere with great prices! Talk about buckets o' shrimp!!! You can get 'shrimp cocktail, shrimp on a stick, fried shrimp, shrimp salad, shrimp sandwich....' You get the point... :)
Favorite Dish:
Shrimp....what else?!?!?!
Any restaurant in S.F. is good. Ask your hotel concierge for the hippest place to eat. Go by the wharf for great seafood.
