Cafe Jacqueline: French Romance in San Francisco
Tucked away in the streets of North Beach is a totally unique restaurant. Cafe Jacqueline is a small quaint cafe. Definitely French with it's soft lighting, wall sconces, hardwood floors, and Tiffany Box Blue walls. Cafe Jacqueline screams romance. This is the place to take your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend.
Cafe Jacqueline just like a fine romance should not be rushed. This is a place where time should not matter, especially since most of the menu is comprised of souffles of every kind (sweet and savory). The souffles are made to order so your dinner may take up to 3 hours to complete! You may wait up to 30-40 minutes between courses, but PLEASE do not let that discourage you, I promise, it is worth the wait. A good idea is to order everything you want all at the same time.
Chef Jacqueline is an older lady trained in one of the best cooking schools in France, (per the waiter) who was also charming and friendly. Chef Jacqueline creates magic with her bowl of eggs. I mean HUGE bowl of eggs! Along with one lucky egg painted black on top. Since you may be staying a while take a walk through the kitchen to the restroom and check her out.
Favorite Dish: Start off with the crusty French Bread, crunchy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside.
French Onion Soup the cheese on top was also baked to a crusty perfection, the onions had the best flavor and the bread it was soaked in just blew my mind.
Also on the menu was a Lobster Souffle with cheese, White corn/Garlic/ Gruyere Souffle, and a Leek Souffle.
Cafe Jacqueline also serves a menu with dessert souffles. My favorite was the Lemon Souffle, it can serve up to 4 people. Most usually share one between two. The dessert is lightly dusted with powdered sugar on a light and fluffy souffle loaded with lemony goodness through and through! Some of her other souffles I plan on trying are the Chocolate and the Raspberry.
Cafe Jacqueline can be a bit pricey, but isn't romance worth it sometimes?

Cafe Jacqueline: Who's in the mood for souffle?
Scrumptious souffles made by Jacqueline alone. A tiny little restaurant that you'll miss if you're not looking for it carefully. Jacqueline is the only chef and makes every souffle to order. Walk through the kitchen to see just how supremely tiny it is, and to see the largest bowl of eggs you've ever imagined.
For a first course you can choose from a variety of salads, soups and escargot. Onion soup is always on the menu, and the night we were there, a choice of sweet pepper soup was also available. Salads include butter lettuce, tomato and herb, two spinach salad choices, watercress and, of course, endive.
For an entree you can choose between a variety of savory souffles, including: gruyere (of course), prosciutto and mushroom, brie and broccoli, spinach, white corn and ginger, and more. Entree souffles are advertised to serve two. However on the night we were there we had 11 people and 4 entree souffle were enough for the group of us.
For a dessert you have a choice of a variety of sweet souffles. Choices include (and we tried nearly all) grand marnier, chocolate, white chocolate and fruit souffles from in season fruits. The night we were there we had 5 dessert souffles to share between the 11 of us. Oh my goodness, but it's difficult to pick a favorite between them all.
Favorite Dish: I just can't pick a favorite. Everything was absolutely delicious. Perfect souffle.

Cafe Jacqueline: Most Romantic Small Venue
This tiny restaurant in the heart of North Beach feels so decadent. It serves primarily the most divine souffles ever imagined- savory and sweet.
Favorite Dish: This is hard to say... anything with cheese, lobster or chocolate!
Cafe Jacqueline: The first of the dessert souffles arrive
Wow, what a hit! We had two grand marnier souffles for the table and they were devoured. Exactly how one should taste. Mmmm.
Favorite Dish: I think my favorite was the ham and cheese souffle. Mmmm.
