in addition to park chow, there is the sister restaurant, chow. it's in the middle of the city on church street at market. it has a really diverse menu, so you can even go there with a vegetarian and they will have lots to chose from. they're kid and family-friendly, it's always busy, but you never really have to wait in a long line. there's indoor and outdoor seating, it's clean and fairly priced. parking can be difficult, but when in a pinch, there is a safeway parking lot right across the street. (you're not really supposed to park there)
to access by bart or muni:
BART
from downtown, take the J church to market and church stop and cross market street. you will see it on the left side next to pilsner bar.
you can also take the N judah to duboce and church, walk down hill to market and cross market to see it on the left.
MUNI
from downtown, take the F market to church and market. get off and walk across market street (going south) and walk up to the corner of church and market. turn left and it's there near the corner of church and market.
enjoy!

Chow's is a wonderful restaurant located on Church at Market Streets in San Francisco. Chow's has the feeling of a diner from the past but with updated food. The staff is always upbeat and very knowledgeable about the menu items and glad to assist you with recommendations. No reservations are accepted but you can go next door to the Pilsner for a drink and they will come and get you when your table is ready.
Favorite Dish: I love the Spinach Salad the best even though it's not an entree. It's made with the freshest greens, walnuts, feta, berries, and a light vinaigrette. The Ginger cake is also good, a large serving of cake that sits on warm caramel, topped with whipped cream! Every entree is great!!! I enjoyed the Mahi Mahi special, a nice portion of very fresh grilled Mahi Mahi served with Mac n Cheese but not just any Mac n Cheese, Chow's is made with Truffles and Carmelized Onions and peas in a very light sauce with parmesan cheese; It's very decadent and delicious! I washed it down with a bottle of Stella Artois and a coffee with the Ginger Cake. For the Meat lovers and vegetarians Chow's did not forget about you, plenty to choose from.
Including tax and tip, my bill came to $40. My Mahi Mahi special cost $16 which for good, quality seafood is about what you would pay elsewhere. Chow's has several entrees that are around the $10-$12 range so you could easily eat for less here.

The food is predominantly Italian of gourmet quality. Very inviting place and the service is excellent. Prices are very reasonable, although if you add on one of their amazing desserts and/or get a fresh squeezed juice, your bill can increase quickly. Great choice for a weekend brunch or lunch/dinner during the week.
Favorite Dish: I tried one of the scrambles with bacon with a side of pan-fried potatoes for brunch on my first visit. It was great! Also ordered a fresh squeezed apple juice - they make the juice per order so you are really getting fresh squeezed!
The second time I went for lunch and ordered their gourmet hamburger - also very good. To drink - lemonade with fresh squeezed lemons. Oh yeah - dessert... ginger cake with pumpkin ice cream was interesting and tasty. My friend ordered chocolate cake ala mode with hot fudge. Yum!

A local San Francisco restaurant ...that has it all, great food, desserts, stocked with a great bar.
My favorite area to eat is the upstairs dining room..that is also a sunroom. Always fun and when it does get cold ..yes, they have heat lamps! Definitely has character. The utensils are in chocolate syrup cannisters and the staff are a good looking bunch. This restaurant gives the inner sunset a real San Francisco touch..
Favorite Dish: A mixed greens salad with candied walnuts and cranberries, and a fruity viniagrette....love it for the candied walnuts...
They also have great salmon....and chocolate cake!!
