Geeyod, just how many good chinese restaurants are there in this town? I hope I never find out.

I finally got around to Hunan Home's last week, which had been on my must hit list.

The hype says it's "The best kept secret in Chinatown" but that's probably bs, people know about this place, and it was full when I was there.

Only reason I knew it existed & to check it out was karenincalifornia had it in her tips.
(She is a local & has an excellent SF vt site)

Anyway the food is imho better than advertised.

Will somebody please clone this place & their food and drop it somewhere in Colorado??

Hunan Home's website has a map and everything else you want to know.

Favorite Dish: I shamelessly devoured the spicy Hunan beef with garlic sauce in the picture with some green tea. I didn't even bother with rice, it would only distract from the sauce.

Hunan's Home in Chinatown, San Francisco

Small restaurant with Hunan food to die for. Popular with the lunch and Asian crowd. Line at lunch. People are willing to wait a long time for a seat. Get here before noon. Cheap lunch with lots of food. Open for lunch and dinner. Located in Chinatown.

Favorite Dish: All good and much is spicy. Very authentic. Frequented by Chinese patrons. Shredded jelly fish, tea smoked chicken, beef with orange peel, squid with spicy salt, sizzling eel, hot spiced bean curd.

Hunan Homes was suggested to my by someone in my hotel and believe me, I was not disappointed. Right in the heart of Chinatown and the experience was wonderful.
