Franciscan Restaurant: A must eat at while in SF!!!
From the location of the Franciscan you wouldn't think you'd have an A+ experience but we were so happy to be surprised. Its right on the water in Fisherman's Wharf with a great view. The style of the building is still in the 1950s style which at first made us think the food would've been old style also. The food is really great though. The menu is styled like a cookbook showing pictures and how to make everything. The service is excellent and friendly.
Favorite Dish: The yellowtail tartare is so delicious!!.. and make sure to end the meal with one of their great sundaes
Franciscan Restaurant: Clam Chowder
Another wonderful place serving San Francisco's clam chowder in a bowl of sour dough bread.
This is a must taste when coming to San Francisco, but you can get it in plenty of restaurants down near the piers.
I also have enjoyed the Franciscan's fish and pasta selections from time to time.
The Franciscan is easy enough to find and there's parking nearby.

Franciscan Restaurant: Franciscan Restaurant - amazing fish
Quite an upmarket place. Me and my travel buddy wandered in in jeans and hoodys and did feel a bit out of place, but the staff didnt treat us any different. Its quite expensive, but the food is very nice and you cannot complain about the service. A good place to go to treat yourself on your last night in the Bay Area.
Favorite Dish: We had the Seafood Platter. I dont know what half of it was, but it was all amazing! Then we had Creme Brulee which was possibly one of the nicest things I have ever eaten!!!
Franciscan Restaurant: Fisherman's Wharf Water Views
The Franciscan is on Pier 43 at Fisherman's Wharf. A parking lot outside was free with restaurant validation. Wonderful tall windows look towards the water and Alcatraz Island in the distance. Alcatraz tour boats were tied up at the edge of the restaurant swaying with the waves. The bar is on the higher level and the restaurant on the lower level of a large open room you enter at the top of the stairs. Several of the booths in the bar sat up high facing the water which was really nice. The restaurant booths and tables were also comfortable and nice. The drinks were good but nothing special. Overall ~ the setting was wonderful and the food was good but not extraordinary. If I lived in San Francisco I'd probably go back some day ~ after sampling the other view restaurants.
Favorite Dish: We had the mixed seafood grill with fresh fish, scallops, shrimp and pancetta whipped potatoes with the ginger-scallion sauce for $25. The seafood was prepared very well with a flavorful sauce.

Franciscan Restaurant: Dungeness!
Mm..with a view over the whole bay, out on the pier, the fact that even if the food would've been awful, it wouldn't have mattered much, remains.
But the food didn't suck, not one bit. It was absolutely wonderful! I'm a sea-food addic and this completely satisfied my needs for quite a while. It's not cheap though, but what is, in San Fransisco? They have the same menu more or less for lunch and for dinner, and if you go there during lunch, you'll get whatever you crave for about 10 bucks less. Just a tip.
Favorite Dish: Dungeness Crab Cioppino!!
Rock shrimp, bay scallops, lams, fresh fish (salmon and some white fish that day) tomatoes and pesto bread.

Franciscan Restaurant: Seafood on the Wharf
An iconic S.F. restaurant- not the best place for seafood, and a little pricey, but a decent choice nonetheless in a very touristy setting. Great views, as it is on the edge of the wharf.
