    Pacific Bell Park

by joanj Written Aug 20, 2004

Baseball ( or rounders as we Brits would refer to it) is played here at the Pacific Bell Park.

If you enlarge the photograph you will see the giant Cola Bottle which is in fact a slide in the childrens play area.

The ball park is right by the Marina, and exiting the steps we had a good view across the Marina.

There is a shop selling memorabelia, and clothing.

We were able to walk around the ground etc., as there was no game on, but was able to sit in the stands and just picture a game going on.

    Worth a visit.

Baseball. The national pastime. Well, maybe not at 10:30am in the morning.

I went for a ride upto the stadium along the waterfront. A nice flat leisurely 20 minute ride from Fishermans Wharf.

I had been told there is a viewing area for tourists to actually pier inside. Alas it was closed or I didn't see it. ( I did see a sign for openning to public area at 11am.)

And 2nd downer for me was there were no home games while I was in San Francisco for 4 nights. Oh well.

Last years NL Champs. do not disappoint, try to get tix to the game and enjoy.Regardless of the climate, you are sure to enjoy the game, plenty of hot chocolate to go around, and for those hot days, nothing beats a 6 dollar beer and some garlic fries! yummy :-) This place is an absolutely must see, it is absolutely amazing.

Equipment: 1.Always bring a light wind breaker no matter what mother nature dishes out .
    2.Sunblock for the hot days.
3.Good supply of money, it can get expensive; food, drinks, foam fingers and other trinkets.
4.Tolerance for .com'ers that don't stay off their damn cell phone

This pic of SBC Park is taken from a pier, outside the stadium. This is a jewel of a ballpark. TV can't do justice to the setting either. Bring your boat to the game!!!

Catch a baseball game at the lovely new SBC Park. If they don't win its a shame! Garlic Fries! Take public transportation because parking is limited and expensive.
