    Right in front of the Maritime Museum on Beach Street, just west of Ghiradelli Square, you'll find a nice stretch of beach and some marked swimming lanes just off shore. I couldn't believe there were actually people swimming here without wetsuits. That water is COLD! Oh . . . and you might be swimming with a sea lion, so don't freak out if a giant sea mammal nuzzles up to you while you're out there.

    When we took a boat tour out toward the Golden Gate Bridge, we noticed tons of guys windsurfing in the area. You can head over to the Presidio area to rent the gear or even do it from the Berkeley Marina.
