From 1850 to 1900, almost 50 000 houses in the range of styles that we now call 'Victorian' were built to accommodate the city's burgeoning population. Many of these houses were lost in the great fire that followed the 1906 earthquake, and others were torn down over the years to make way for new development. However, thousands of these homes are just waiting to be discovered.
Because the westward spread of the 1906 fire was halted at Van Ness Avenue, the neighborhoods west of that line, including Pacific Heights, the Western Addition, the Fillmore, and the Haight, offer the best opportunity for finding the surviving jewels. These six beautifully restored Victorian houses at Alamo Square show up best in the afternoon, when they are lit by the western sun.

Visit Land's End and Baker Beach for the most dramatic views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The Golden Gate Bridge is quintessential San Francisco. No? Besides, hiking amongst the Cypress trees at Land's End and/or on Baker Beach are good for the soul. FYI: There are sometimes nude sunbathers at the north end of Baker Beach (this is legal here).

San Francisco has so many beautiful streets. The Painted Ladies are very famous San Franciso row houses. They make great photo's and almost everyone who goes to San Francisco comes home with a picture of them.

Alamo Square
This is the most photographed place of San Francisco! So you must have seen it, beside this, it's also a beautiful place were you can see the difference between the old victorian houses and the new skyscrapers from San Francisco

One of the most photographed locations in San Francisco, Alamo Square's famous 'postcard row' at Hayes and Steiner Streets is indeed a visual treat. A tight, escalating formation of Victorian houses is back-dropped by downtown skyscrapers, providing a stunning contrast. The grassy square itself is an ideal midday break. From Alamo Square you can have one of the most beautiful views of San Francisco: some Victorian houses and the Downton skyscrapers in the foreground. These houses are called The Six Sisters built in 1895.
