Ocean Beach by sswagner San Francisco has some excellent city beaches. Ocean Beach is the where Golden Gate Park ends and the ocean begins. This is a nice place to be on a good weather day. of course, the water will be frigid, so I would not use it for anything other than wading around. Besides, even if you did not mind the water temperature, there are some very strong rip currents in this area. There are many beaches in this region. this one had some interesting rock formations off shore and had a nice open area of sand. Even in the summer when we went, it was not crowded at all. by cup0joe You can comb the beach for hours. Watch out for sleeper waves. And bring a jacket. The ocean air is not warm, nor is the water which is too cold for swimming. If you do attempt to swim take heed of the warnings posted. Take a right down the beach and you'll end up at the Cliff House Restaurant up on the bluff. Take a left on the beach and you'll end up at the famous Doggie Diner on Taraval St., serving up fast food. Leave a Comment Directions: Take the N-Judah Muni tram to the end of the line, Sunset Beach. Keep in mind the streets in the Outer Sunset area are named alphabeticly...A- Irving, Judah, Lawton, Moraga to Wawona. Sloat Blvd is just after Wawona St.

As a whole, beaches in San Francisco are breathtakingly gorgeous. Unless it's an exceptional day, San Francisco beaches tend to be a little chilly and windy. However, this should not deter you from enjoying a nice afternoon at the beach. Most of the beaches have panoramic views of the Marin Headlands, Point Bonita Lighthouse or the Golden Gate Bridge. Baker Beach in San Francisco is well-known for the sunset watching and a famous picnic spot. Several picnic tables with barbecue pits are located to the east of the north parking lot. It is a good place to relax and unwind with your loved ones. (NATURAL) Leave a Comment
