Chinatown was a great place to hang out and shop. We had lunch at this resturant . We sat right on the corner and had a great view!

    Grant Avenue

Chinatown is a great place for shopping (inexpensively) -- chopsticks, Chinese shoes, incense, linens, etc.

    Tour Chinatown

    I'm A Chinatown Fan

A trip to San Francisco for anyone that enjoys shopping isn't completed without a walking tour through Chinatown. I bought a inexpensive, good quality zoom lens for my old Pentax K-1000 there.

China town is a wonderful place of independent culture and real good food. I've only experienced the sensation in New York.

What a life, never seen a so big and working - living foreign community. Shops are so different and they sell everything quite cheaply, most of all FOOD! :)

Chinatown by Night, this was one of my favourite areas of San Francisco. Loved the food outlets and the shops. I could have bought heaps there.

    Chinatown Gate

Start at the Chinatown Gate. I've been to many Chinese places in the world - San Francisco's Chinatown is uniquely Chinese with an American flavor.

If you don’t stay in Grant Avenue but indeed take the Alleys between Grant Avenue, Stockton street and Washington street, you would get a more authentic view from Chinatown.

This is the intrance of Chinatown, the famous chinese area. This is indeed Grant Street, the main street with many different shops (antics, tourist, restaurant, camera…)

This large dragon-clad archway that crosses the intersection of Bush Street and Grant Avenue – a gift from the government of Taiwan.

It's noisy, crowded and chaotic, it's unmissable. All life is there. Choosing somewhere to eat is difficult they all look and smell so good.

Head into Chinatown. Browse the shops and get something to eat. Here's a hint - if no locals are in the place, then you might want to look elsewhere for bite to eat.
