    Fisherman's Wharf - nothing really to do here. Just a lot of retail and souvenir stores! Prices are even more prohibitive than elsewhere in the city. Not a lot of culture to be seen here. ***I have a small amendment since my last trip a couple of weeks ago - the sea lions near PIER 39 (I think) are worth the trip to Fisherman's Wharf but that is about it.

  • Pier 39/Fishermans Wharf definitley. It's a cute pier with lot's of candy, t-shirt and your typical tourist shops. But if your really seeking the true culture of San Francisco you won't find it there. And parking is hell.

    The Fisherman's Wharf. Really great place to go walking at evenings. Some good fish restaurants with view to the sea and Alcatraz island, fish market (clean and nice, tourist friendly) etc.

    Ghirardelli Square - ok, yes, it's a famous place, and there are some cool shops there, but come on, it's really just another outdoor shopping mall.

  • Fisherman's Wharf - This place used to be nice but in my recent visits to the city I have found it to be over-priced and out of control. Frankly I can barely walk there are so many people. If you should decide to go take A LOT of film because if you run out it will cost you!

    Fisherman's Wharf will have the highest concentration of tourists of any part of the city, but that's not all bad. It's great if you want a lot of great photos of interesting people from all over the world.

    Fisherman's Wharf - it's very touristy and I personally found it quite disappointing. There are some nice restaurants with a view of the bay, but it's jam-packed full of souvenir shops, and there's not a whole lot in this area once you get tired of looking at San Francisco t-shirts. There are some Sea Lions which laze around on the pier nearby that are worth a look, but don't expect too much.

  • Fisherman's Wraf!!! You will find a thousand and one advertisements about it everywhere you turn in SF - the airport, the hotels... Do not comply! It is a real waste of time while you could be at some great authentic places in the city. You can get a sense of a place like this one at any touristy mall in the US.

  • Fisherman's Wharf is our tourist area. You'll find almost no locals here and prices are almost double for everything.

    Fisherman's Warf is a huge tourist trap, but since most people will go anyway... it is worth seeing the harbor seals play along side Pier 39. Don't be surprised to see people on the street holding signs that say 'Need money to get my stuff out of storage' or 'Need Cash for Weed'...At least they are honest about it. Do people actually feel sorry enough to give them money?
