SF MUNI: Easy access to the game
After riding BART to Balboa Park, we then headed up to street level to take the bus to Monster Park. Talk about getting "door-to-door" service, the bus was waiting for us and after one other stop, we were dropped off right in front of the stadium. After the game, we headed to the designated area, hopped on the bus and it took us back to the BART station. Very convenient, and well thought out.

SF MUNI: Good old fasioned bus
Bus transportation is very good in SF. For a dollar you get a ticket which is good for a certain time of the day, which is indicated on the ticket itself. This ticket is can be used twice in any direction, but the drivers hardly ever check this so.... (I'm not going to put idea into your head's)

    SF MUNI: Muni SUCKS
Don't bother with this ichy bus thing, take a cab. Put it to you this way, the city is only 7x7miles, and it can take you 45 min to go from the Haight to Downtown, if your lucky. Here is another reason why: Seventeen people were injured Monday night when a Municipal Railway bus swerved off Mission Street and crashed into an adult video store, police said. One of the injured, a 60-year-old man, was in critical condition with head injuries. The accident occurred at about 10:15 p.m. at Mission and Sixth streets when a 14-Mission double electric bus slammed into the Golden Gate Adult Superstore. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. Witnesses said the bus was eastbound on Mission Street when it veered off the road and onto the sidewalk at full speed. The front of the bus crashed through the wall and into the store, thrusting a streetlight into the second floor of the building, which houses several apartments. San Francisco Police Lt. Greg McEachern said that three or four of the injured were taken to hospitals. The driver of the bus was among the injured. Passengers sat on the sidewalk amid shattered glass at the scene, awaiting treatment from paramedics. The intersection was completely blocked by the bus, which jutted out from the building into the road. Police and passengers were at a loss to explain the crash. "We were just going down the street and the next thing I knew, I flew to the floor. The bus swerved -- nothing provoked it," said 22-year-old Berkeley resident Kari Amu, who was at the back of the bus. "I don't know what happened. We just hit the wall." "I was in the back of the bus. The next thing I know, I'm flying through the air," said a man who declined to be identified. "It was a big bang. No brakes, we went full speed into the building."

SF MUNI: Easy to get around on the bus
I found a map in the tourist office just beside the Union Square stop of the underground - (it's just beside where the tram goes from) that had all the buses marked on the map, so you could follow a road and a colour and really easily figure out which bus to get where. It really is simple. And then if you're going a bit further, the underground is very easy to figure out and efficient.

If you are considering renting a car in San Francisco, think again. The city's compact size, many one-way streets, and difficult or expensive parking makes driving more of a hassle than it’s worth. The “Muni,” San Francisco’s bus and streetcar system, can be quite crowded and sometimes irregular, too. But it is cheap—only $1.50 (youth, senior, disabled: $0.50) with a free transfer, and takes you most everywhere. Tickets are sold on the bus (exact change required), or in Muni metro stations. Transfers last 90 minutes in any direction, although bus drivers often give you tickets with extra time. This means that for many trips you can go roundtrip for just $1.50! If you plan to see a lot of San Francisco and stay for a few days, invest in a MUNI Passport (1-day: $11; 3-day: $18, 7-day: $24), which are for sale at the cable car turnaround, and other outlets. These passes include rides on the must-see cable cars, which are ordinarily $5 each way, so the pass quickly pays for itself! A monthly pass is also available for $45.

SF MUNI: Get a multi-day MUNI Passport and SAVE!
If you are exploring San Francisco for several days, stop by the Muni Kiosk at the end of the Powell Street cable car line (Powell and Market) and get a multi day Muni-Passport. The Passport is good for all city run cable cars, buses and street cars collectively known as the SF Municipal Railway. This is the most economical and convenient way to get around San Francisco. Besides the historic cable cars make sure you take the historic "F" line street car. The "F" line runs many cars that represent the history of street cars across the United States. It is like a museum on wheels.

SF MUNI: DO NOT DRIVE! REPEAT! DO NOT DRIVE!
If you can handle the bus system, or can read the map, take the bus. It's a dollar and you get a transfer good for 90 minutes. If you want to travel up and down Market streets, take the Metro (subway). If you need to go to the East Bay or Oakland Airport take BART (transbay subway). If you need to get to the Peninsula, take Caltrain (commuter train). If you need to go up and down the embarcadero from Market take the F Train (train on overhead lines). Otherwise take a cab or walk. Driving is a pain in the ass and parking is non existent and expensive if you can find it.

    SF MUNI: MUNI
SF has a decent Mass Transit system called MUNI which runs through almost all of San Francisco and Daly City. Throughout the commercial downtown and parts China town, North Beach, Union Square you can only use the Cable Cars.
