The Municipal Rose Garden is a beautiful five acre garden situated in one of San Jose's nicer residential neighborhoods. For over 70 years this garden has been a favorite place for city residents and visitors. There are over 3,500 rose plants (surrounded by some noble old redwood trees), including miniature roses, climbers, hybrid-teas, grandifloras and many more.
This garden is a source of pride for city residents, who frequent this oasis of color not only for enjoyment, but to care for the plants; much of the work is done by volunteers. Many San Jose teenagers are first introduced to the garden when they graduate from high school, because graduation ceremonies are held here in June.
Very close by the garden is another San Jose attraction, the Rosicrucian museum, known as the Egyptian museum.
