San Jaun Creek Hike or Bike Trail by cnango The 5 mile San Juan Creek Hike/Bike Trail runs through San Jaun Capistrano to Doheny State Beach. My son Mike is a cross country runner and runs on this trail often. He says it is pretty flat and easy. When I lived in Dana Point years ago I used to ride my mountain bike on the last mile or so down to Doheny State Beach. I always loved it when I reached the trails end and caught that first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. This picture was taken from the park in the Los Rios District. The trail runs alongside San Jaun Creek , through Dana Point, under PCH and other streets then ends at Doheny State Beach Park. Leave a Comment Theme: Biking

Josh climbing a natural rock wall near Ortega Hwy by cnango, 1 more photos It was more than a 15 yrs. ago when we had this local family adventure. These pictures are abit faded but the good memories are still quite vivid. We went with our then teenaged son, Josh & some friends up Ortega Highway for some hiking & rock climbing. The guys took turns climbing & repelling on a shear rock wall, the beautiful location was Ortega Falls. But being in the middle of a hot dry summer the Falls had no water. And the base of the shear rock wall was a large sand bottom, where a natural pool was dried up & perfect for a soft landing. I would love to go back and explore this area after some rain to see the hills green and plenty of water spilling over the Falls into a natural pool below. In the attached website are some pictures (much better than mine) showing how Ortega Falls and the surrounding nature looks after a wet Winter. Rain or Shine this location is FINE ! Park here, and head down a trail on the north side of the road. It is about a 6-8 minute walk to the “Falls”.Website: http://ronbigelow.com/Outings/Trails/sj_loop/sj_loop_gallery.htm
