    Thursday Evening Farmers Market

This was a great introduction to the town of San Rafael. Located on 4th street which is closed to traffic. We wandered up and down about six blocks of vendors selling everything from fedoras to raspberries. There were several barbeques, ribs, tacos etc so you could come for dinner while you decide on which hat or purse or skirt to buy. We enjoyed watching my friends son climb the wall and fight with swords. I especially enjoyed the Belgian Waffles-- the real thing not some imitation. The raspberries were huge, and the skirt was a bargin. Another thing I enjoyed were the bands at each intersection, good music as well.

During the warm months, San Rafael hosts a weekly event that it calls a Farmers Market, but I have yet to see any fresh produce there.

It would be more accurately called a Street Fair, with live music and booths selling handicrafts, clothing, and snacks. There's a big inflatable jumping house for children, and it's fun just to walk around and people-watch.

Every Thursday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. There are no dogs allowed at the fair.

Check out the farmer's market. There are various ones in Marin County. However, my favorite is held at the Marin County Civic Center, down the street from my house. It's hours are 8am to 1pm on Thursdays and Sundays, all year 'round.
Great, fresh, organic produce, crafts, delicious foods (crepe, samosa, falaffel, freshly baked goods, kettle corn, smoked salmon, artisan sausages, etc.), crafts and live music... very nice.
