Like all good things that come to an end, the Cafe Buenos Aires is CLOSED.
I leave the review for my memory of a excellent restaurant of 19 years. It follows:
"Driving on State Street is visiting the action of Santa Barbara with the eclectic shopping venues, the many night life style bars, and the wonderful restaurants that line the street and side streets from the ocean front for over 1 mile north. One in particular shines out to you to come inside. This is the Cafe Buenos Aires with the magical bright clear lights that outline the exterior arches.
Fantastic cocktails featuring the "Mojito" containing soda, rum, lime juice, sugar, and mint leav es. Delicioso! Besides having superb Argentine cuisine, Saturday night also features "Latin Jazz" with The Martinez Brothers and special guest, Norma Latuchie. Together, they bring a smooth latin sound to the jazz scene.
Enjoying cocktails under the canopy of the romantic outdoor courtyard, listening to the music, having tapas (Argentine appetizers) and then a well prepared free-range Argentine black-angus beef steak, medium-rare makes for a full evening of dining contentment. Who knows what the night may bring. Ole!
This cafe had always caught my eye as I drove down state street. It is beautifully decorated! If you like South American food this is the place for you! They serve very good dishes! Thier wines are also very good. The service was fast and friendly! One tip: make a reservation!
