William S. Hart Park & Museum
William S. Hart was a famous silent film star of the early 1900's. When he retired he moved to Newhall and built his home the "La Loma de los Vientos" (the Hill of the Winds). It is now a museum and contains original furnishings, Native American artifacts and western art....
If you like theme parks, Six Flags Magic Mountain is the best one in Southern California. The rides are alot better than at Disneyland and it costs just about the same. Viper was my favorite ride. Children under 6 years old may not be able to ride on most of the big rides.
Throughout the Santa Clarita...
Throughout the Santa Clarita valley you'll find a wide selection of dining choices, sprinkled with cozy coffeehouses and award-winning menus. Pleasant surroundings and personal attention are really the spirit behind Santa Clarita's many restaurant locations.* Built in 1927,...
IHOP Restaurant: Great Breakfast
The breakfast here is great. I only started going to IHOP restaurants recently. I have always had my breakfast on the road at Dennys. I must admit, the breakfast was filling and a decent portion. For the same price of what I get at Denny's I was able to customize my plate...

As anywhere in the sates, if you are visiting you should rent a car, and there's no subway system in Santa Clarita. However, there's buses and also the Metrolink trains, that can take you all the way to downtown L.A. But a car's a lot more convenient.

Speed traps at bottom of hills
"Speed traps are at the bottom of the hills on streets, such as Sierra Hwy, Golden Valley. A sheriff named J. Banks gives speeding tickets most afternoons at one of those places. Also, my daughter was ticketed for following too closely on Soledad Canyon road at 3:15 during...
*Speed Trap on Magic Mountain Parkway*
There is a speed trap on Magic Mountain Parkway from the 5 freeway up to McBean Parkway. Save youself some $ and drive the speed limit (50mph) on this strip of road. The cops only give out tickets - never a warning - take it from me! :(
Old Orchard Park
Old Orchard Park is the best place in the whole Santa Clarita Valley to get a pick game of basketball. The times I've been there, players are very serious and play to win. Very good ballers (even highschool players) come out from the SCV and San Fernando Valleys. The court is nestled in between tall trees so it stays shaded in the very hot summer days. Games usually start during the late afternoons. The only down side is that there was only 1 full court.
If you like to jog, this is a good park to meet other joggers too. It is also a good place to find an active playground for little kids and where their parents can meet up for picnics.

Here's a picture of the local view, through the ears of one of the horses. Not sure which one, as I was 'forced' to ride all four of them, one after the other, LOL!
Santa Clarita Wildlife
What do I miss the most? Has to be the great hospitality afforded to me by Ann and Bob, and not forgetting Noodle, of course!
