    ROUTE 66 : Tip 66 - The end at last !

by sourbugger Updated Jan 28, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: "The end of the Santa Monica Boulevard, the Pacific Ocean, the end of road, no more maps, the terminus of Route 66, we did it !"

    "Without killing each other"

    "Amazingly.. It was some trip"

"Yes, I'm glad I saw the real America, the bit between the East Coast and California which to me is the 'real deal'"

"Umm...Elvis, Churchs, abandoned Gas stations, confused policemen, snapping turtles, terrible food, maple syrup, scorching deserts, giant plastic dinosaurs...it was all in there"

"Now its time to party for a while...in the words of Sheryl Crow....altogether now..."

"All I wanna do is have some fun
Until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard"

"Although I think the lyrics to another song are even more appropriate to trip along route 66 :
    Everyday is a winding road
I get a little bit closer
    Everyday is a faded sign
I get a little bit closer to feeling fine

I've been living in a sea of anarchy
I've been living on coffee and nicotine
I've been wondering if all the thing I've seen
Were ever real, were ever really happening"

"Great way to end the trip"

And they all lived happily ever after...

    Nearly...they got married

    Complete !

Favorite thing: "Back in Chicago I played you a track on the CD as we began this journey. Listen to it again now - see how much more it means"

The music from the Stone came of the tinny speakers of the Ford Crapmobile :

"Well if you ever plan to motor west
Just take my way that’s the highway that’s the best
Get your kicks on route 66

Well it winds from chicago to l.a.
More than 2000 miles all the way
Get your kicks on route 66

Well goes from st. louie down to missouri
Oklahoma city looks oh so pretty
You’ll see amarillo and gallup, new mexico
    Flagstaff, arizona don’t forget winona
    Kingman, barstow, san bernadino

Would you get hip to this kindly tip
And go take that california trip
Get your kicks on route 66

    Still More VT Meeting

by zrim Written Mar 6, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: The key to any good VT Meeting is to soak up as much beer as possible. Let's face it, you will be meeting a bunch of strangers. People who apparently have no social lives, because they think the height of fun on a Friday night is to meet up with a bunch of strangers they only know (or do not know) through the internet. The topic of conversation is: "Hey how 'bout all that auction spam that keeps filling up my mailbox." Really, beer is the only solution. After four pitchers everyone will seem like your new best friend.

    More VT Meeting

by zrim Updated Mar 6, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: If you go to a sanctioned VT Meeting with VT personel you get free stuff. Tilman came armed with caps and t-shirts. Of course, the t-shirts were all Yubert-sized so I didn't get one. But I like my VT cap. I wore it to the desert on Sunday.

Jenn and Ernst are not wearing their VT caps

    VT Meeting

by zrim Written Mar 6, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Drove down to Santa Monica for the VT Meeting with Ernst (worldtrekker) and his roomate Justin. Justin was leery--a meeting, that doesn't sound like fun. Do you have roll call, and minutes, discuss old business, new business?

But Justin was enlightened by Santamonicaboy (Drago) who explained that you drink as much beer as possible at a VT Meeting. In Yubert's case, that is one beer before he starts wobbling.
