Sushi Roku's Santa Monica location (there are also locations in West Hollywood and Pasadena), is on Ocean Blvd. and is always packed full. A great place to people watch and if you are an "out of towner", this is hip place to eat on the Westside.
If you are looking for basic sushi, I can recommend better places, but if you are looking for something a liitle out of the ordinary (both atnosphere and menu), then Sushi Roku is the place to go.
Try some of the hot or cold appetizers instead of the usual Nigiri sushi (2 pieces per order). There are many choices, so ask the waiter what is recommended and you won't be disappointed.
NOTE: MAKE A RESERVATION or else forget about going - and you'll easily spend $100 for two without blinking your eye.
Favorite Dish:
Shisito Tobayaki (small whole roasted japanese peppers) .
Tuna Tatake Sashimi.
Roku's Scallop Dynamite is Dyno-mite.
Baked Cod in Sweet Miso.
Japanese hamachi (yellowtail) n warm olive oil with chiles - my buddy hated it - but I love it and get it everytime I go.
Very over priced sushi. Priced so high because its on ocean ave. had plenty of sushi in my life, but this was by far the worst. ending up spending 90 dollars for three people to feel sick. I do not suggest this place.
Favorite Dish:
I didnt have one... ended up making my whole party feeling sick to all different levels.
