Absolutely be sure to catch a sunset in Santa Monica or somewhere along the Pacific. The sunset the night before I took this picture was astonishingly beautiful, but I was stuck on a freeway miles away from the beach.
Palisades Park (see previous tip) was an ideal spot to watch and better than the beach for taking pictures.
I really recommend to stay till the evening Sun gets down behind the mountains ,it is a spectacular view
Here you see Lori watching the sun almost setting behind the mountains .
Everything looks just beautiful that time of the night ,the Ocean's glistering water ,the reddish glow above the mountains ,just awsome .
See the sunset pictures in the travelogue
(not yet finished )
The Waterfront Cafe on Venice Beach (between Navy & Rose) is a great place to have a nice, tall, cold Erdinger draft while watching people and fantastic sunsets. This place is beach casual, so don't expect linen tablecloths and mimosas.
Sunset! It's very seldom I get a chance to watch the sun setting & I must say it's moments like these which I would treasure for a long long time. Santa Monica does have one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world!
I have heard that pictures is worth more than a tousand words, so check out the 2 pictures on this tip and then decide if you want to miss out.
